Quote:Last week, Chapman suggested that race might have influenced the voting for the NBA's MVP award. It was won by Suns guard Steve Nash, who is white; he narrowly beat Miami star Shaquille O'Neal, who is black.
Yeah, it didn't have anything to do with him having a hell of a year. I'm sure next year we'll have co-MVPs in Jon and Brent Barry.....or will it be Darko Milicic?
Anyone even know who the last "white" MVP was? That just sounds stupid doesn't it?
Crap like that really pisses me off. Why does race have to get brought into every topic? And why is it always black vs. white? I have never heard Eduardo Najera complain about white or black players or vice versa. The same can be said about Yao Ming.
Yet for some reason, the black man is always seemingly being held down by the white man. Bull****. Why can't everything just be based on results? Who cares what color someone's skin is? In both sports and the workplace, I know I am selecting the person who is going to give me the best chance to win.
I understand that the person who made this comment is white, but that doesn't matter to me. When you make an ignorant statement like that, no matter what race you are, without any proof, it serves no purpose but to further drive a wedge in race relations.
