I know that the public schools around here, if a teacher wants to teach religion, she has to spend the same amount of time on each segment in the class.

What was hypocritical was you saying there was nothing wrong with teaching about the Koran, but Christianity is a no-no.

As far as someone being allowed to opt out of Islamic studies(I thought it was mandatory), the same thing was done with the Pledge of Allegiance and Bible Studies....and the ACLU went nuts. It's hypocrisy and, regardless of what you may think, there is a war out there against anything Christian.

I understand what you're saying. I think the ACLU takes it a bit far one time, but the right-wingers didn't mind them when they helped Rush during his pill-popping scandal. Also, I don't have a problem with the kids studying religion of any type in public school as long as they aren't forced to believe it. They can study this stuff from and academic standpoint without being a believer. BTW, I may be wrong in the UNC thing. I'm pretty sure I read that when the program was starting a couple of years ago. I googled it but too many resutls to plough through.

As a Christian, I don't see any war against Christianity. I think this whole idea is just one of those "vast right or left win conspiracy" arguments. If anything you will be better off being a Christian in these times. You make so many contacts in Church. Also, can you imagine being Muslim a couple of years ago? I was on campus at that time and there were reports of people telling people of middle eastern appearance beatings.

What does Rush have to do with anything? Are you admitting that the ACLU is a left-wing organization? I thought they were supposed to be non-partisan.

As far as a war on Christianity, that can be seen across America in the banning of Crosses, Nativity Scenes, Christian Plays, etc.

It bothers me not one bit for other religions to do what they wish. I do believe like you, I don't agree with mandating of any religion, but I don't believe in banning it in government complexes to be politically correct either.

Do you really think that ACLU is non-partisan? I'm a democrat and I know the answer to that one.

I see what you're saying about banning of Christian things. Here's what you can do. Instead of decorating your house for Christmas with snowmen and santa. Put up a nativity scene. You may want to put an alarm on the baby Jesus because people are stealing them. Make your own statement about Christmas and Christianity at the same time. My $0.02.

I don't think the goverment is condoning the other religieons. I think it's just that Christians are in the majority so it is far more obvious. When is the last time at a high school football game a Koran or Torah verse has been read. If you're succesfull you're a bigger target. Look at the number one selling book of all time.
