This is my first time across the pond. I'll be going to Ireland in December. My question is, does the passport application process really take 6 weeks? I know I can get it sooner if I'm willing to pay more. But a standard application, can it come any sooner?

I paid for the quick process and got mine within a week of application. I really don't think it takes 6 weeks, but then again, they may be right.
