Lack of Recognizable Candidate Confuses Voters
12 minutes ago
(AP) Many registered voters are leaving their polling stations confused and discouraged. The candidate they were looking for was not on the ballot.
"Josiah 'Jed' Bartlet" was not on the ballot in any of the 50 states for one good reason, he is a fictional character on the popular television show "West Wing".
However, many new voters who registered this year with the Democrat Party voter registration drives came out to support their favorite politician. They left the station angry and confused as to the names that were on the ballot.
Phil McCavity, an unemployed auto worker in Dearborn, MI had this to say, "I try to stay informed, keep up to date on politics. West Wing is the only interesting politics show I watch. I can't understand why Jeb isn't on the list." He seemed confused when it was explained that the program was fiction, and that the real president was George W. Bush.
A group of women in Olney, MD had a similar response. Kathy Whinesalot and several friends came to vote for the first time ever. "Jeb is just so handsome, how could anyone not want him in office," she doted. "I'm really concerned that I couldn't find his name. So I just wrote it in. I told my friends to do the same thing."
When she was told that the television show was fiction, she became indignant. "It's every bit as real as 60 Minutes!" She then telephoned the "Election Protection" hotline on her cell phone.
Similar reports are coming in from other polling stations. While election day is still in its infancy, many exit pollsters believe that write-in votes for "President Bartlett" will outnumber votes for Green Party candidate Ralph Nader.

You know, the sad thing about that is I would think it is more closer to fact than we would like to believe.
