I live in a small town and I voted today at 6:35 A.M. I was the 13th person. I'm usually 1st. I can see a line right now outside our school. Off the charts fellas!!!!!!!!! You would think that this would favor Kerry??? But the right is fired up too!!!!!!!!!! It's a GREAT DAY FOR DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck to ALL!!!!!!

I agree...my voting district had something like 300 total in the Spring vote...hell, there were 300 people at the polling place when I got there at about 6:35 am. Good to see the high turn-out for a change.

In my Republican-Strong county of Columbia County, Georgia, the line was about 200 yards at 7:30 so I passed it and will vote in a couple of hours.

I got in a line out the door at 6:25. However, it stayed steady for the next 35 min, whereas it usually grows longer. Still they had 5 machines going. I was approx #210 when I got to the machine at 7am.

The funniest thing in the morning, someone asked the woman sitting at the Kerry table if she had a sample ballot. She said, "Yes. Oh my we're falling down on the job."

My response, "Sure, just like your candidates."

Go back to Md and your high taxes and high crime. Stop trying to ruin Virginia too.

15 minutes after the polls opened. I was # 51. I'm usually in the top 15. I was there for a half an hour. Even though there were long lines, I was happy to see people actually doing their civic duty.

I'm just glad that people are voting again. It used to sicken me when they said less than half of our population voted.

I think the long, early lines represents passion for a candidate or issues, but not necessarily a consistent, huge turnout. It would be nice to have decent turnout, though.

I voted about 9:30am in Tremont (Cleveland)...no lines, no worries.

That's certainly a possibility.

Also, the reports of long lines may have turned people off.

In effect, there may be a feedback mechanism that caps the turnout, given the current attitude of the country.

Just a theory, we'll all know more tonite.
