Cancer, alzheimers, cystic fibrosis, mad cow disease, sars, and others are caused by the misfolding of proteins in the body. Folding@Home is a project ran by Stanford University that uses your computer's unused power to simulate the folding of proteins to find out why they misfold, and thus help cure those diseases.
NCAAbbs has a Folding@Home team (Folding@NCAAbbs). We have nearly 60 active computers. We recently overtook team Louisiana State University... but we do not have enough people aboard to overtake teams like NC State University, University of Tennessee Knoxville, University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, and others. If as few as one out of every one hundred NCAAbbs members run Folding@Home.. we'll have more than enough to overtake these teams.
So.. join team Folding@NCAAbbs, help fight cancer and other diseases, and help us be able to claim the #1 spot for college related teams.

I was an "anonymous" folding member and just switched to the NCAABBS team. If you are even thinking about doing this you owe to yourself to just go ahead and try it. It is unodtrusive and you will get satisfaction knowing you are helping. Just di it (sorry Nike). Also, wouldn't you know it that my first unit as a NCAABBS member is a real doosy and will take several days. I wonder if size does matter and you get credit for bulk. (I'm talking about the unit size here!!! file unit size!!! Get your minds out of the gutter) .

Points are awarded for amount of computation done... takes longer... more points. However, after the first unit, the optimization I had you put in when you read the configure instructions kicked in. That means more efficiency... more work units done... more points.
