They were cheering the replay on the jumbotron, not the injury...

"I wouldn't bet on that... here's a quote from a Maryland fan...My apologies also go out to you guys for the disgraceful behavior of some of our fans. When I was a student (and I swear it wasn't that long ago ) we wouldn't have even dreamed of cheering when an opposing player was injured. I am deeply embarassed by some of the "fans" of this university. It is very bush league and not in any way shape or form indicative of the spirit of the true Maryland fan. It is my sincere hope that Chris Rix is not seriously injured and that you guys realize that no true fan would ever wish ill on an opposing team member."

Not saying either way, but neither one of you can really prove either side.

Judging by some other Maryland incidents, I would guess that MsNole is right, though.

I would bet on it becasue I was there and I know what happened. Leon Joe made an excellent play to get to Rix and it looked really good on the Junbotron when they showed the replay...that is when all the cheering started. Rix had already been down for a good 20 seconds and there wasn't any cheering...please explain that!!!! The problem here is that there seems to be some Maryland faithful who are turning their backs on other Terrapin supporters. These people are to quick to judge all of us because of the past history of Maryland fans, which I admit is not that great, but this is a case where a simple misunderstanding had been blown up.

I do have a question though.....why was Rix even in the game at that point? Seeme to me that Bowden has no one to blame but himself if his QB is actually down for an extended period of time, which I know he won't be becuase all it is a bruised elbow!!!!

Bull, you know damn well the fans were cheering the injury.

You are the first UM fan I have seen offer up the excuse of the replay being shown, versus dozens who admit that the cheering was for the Rix injury.

The fact that Rix is a sophmore and needs all the plays in a game that he can get is the reason he was still playing. But the Noles were HAPPY that it's only a bruised elbow and that Fabian Walker was able to do something in the backup qb.

How to have class... clap when the hurt player, no matter what team it is, gets up off the turf and walks to the sideline!!!

Rix was in the game only because of our situation at the QB spot. McPherson is injured, and Walker is the next in line, but Walker hardly knows the system the way Rix and McPherson does. If you looked close enough, except for the part about Rix being left in the game for so long, the starting WR's were out or being rotated in and out during the 3rd quarter, our RB's Greg Jones, and Nick Maddox were done and only saw minimal playing time half way through the 3rd, even though Jones did have a 10 yd TD run in the 4th, there was Willie Reid, Thomas Clayton,Leon Washington and Torrance Washington, all in the backfield during the second half. Thats the problem with teams, sometimes they will accuse another team of keeping a player in or running up the score when actually thats wrong. Alot of teams will have so much talent and depth that a certain team might not ever miss a beat on the field. When all or most of the starters are on the bench and that score is still going up on the scoreboard it may seem that your defense is playing the first team offense when actually your playing against 2nd and 3rd team players. Get enough talent and you can rotate through out the game to keep players fresh in the 4th quarter

Florida State played a total of 57 players...IN THE FIRST HALF!

We've been doing that for 13 years. Mickey Andrews once asked...former Valdosta High Coach...
Tates Bazemore...How his teams were always so
powerful? The answer..."I play next year's team,
this year. Hell, Florida State played 11
defensive linemen and 7 linebackers in the first
quarter. Along with 7 defensive backs.

That's always been the different. All of our
top 22's match up with everyone else...But it
is the top 44 and then the top 66 that separates
us from everyone else.

How 'Bout tailback...Jones, Maddux, Reid, Clayton
Washington and we're red-shirting the National HS
player of the year...Lorenzo Booker!

Paul thanks for the reminder!! I completely left out Lo' Booker, that just goes to show how deep we are at the RB position. When Jones and Maddox leave there wont be a drop off anywhere in the backfield. Dont forget about Chris Davis returning next year at WR either, as I said in a previous post, when you watch him play he reminds people of Peter Warrick, only faster. Like defenses need another P Dubs with speed, LOL

playing one of Pell's teams. Miami had rallied
from 7-0 to lead 28-7 deep into the fourth quarter.

That's when the aytor fans began to bombard the
Hurricane bench with all sorts of objects.

Well...Ol Howard had enough and with 17 seconds
to play he sent his Field Goal team back onto
the field and "shut the folks up in Gaytorland!"

Final was 31-7. Pell...The biggest cheat this
side of Lou Holtz...moaned and groaned, but that
one was for the fans!

Anyway...I loved the way Walker played. No one
has asked me, and as is usually the case...No
one will...but I thought Walker lookd better than
McPherson ever has.

Can y'all say...another Charlie Ward in the wings!

I think it is very classless to cheer when a player gets hurt. I am not taking sides but I think the fan just gets so involved in the moment of the hit that they dont see the injury. Kinda like when Dockett hit the gator last fall, how many NOLE fans cheered I did not cheer for that.

I agree it's pretty bad to cheer an injury, but from where we were sitting, we didn't really hear alot of cheering immediately after the play was over. The replay was cheered loudly, that is a fact. From what I understand, the 'cheering' was obvious on the broadcast, and was commented on by the announcers, but keep in mind that it may have been a microphone placement issue. I do know that Rix was cheered when he rose and walked to the sidelines a short time later.

And further, I can tell you, that we Terp fans only cheer an injury if WE, the fans, are responsible for it, you know, a Molotov cocktail in the head, that type of thing.

Gattecha, Funny thing people forget about that Dockett incident is that it was reviewed by the NCAA, the SEC and ACC, and was said that no further action will need to be taken on the matter. Just alot of opinions flying around if you ask me. Further more on this Dockett subject, but in Grahams' next game he had one of the best games of his college career, so if his is acusations are true, then he shouldnt have played in that last game. Spurrier also said he would back Graham up in court, well where is he now? Funny thing about all of this, when the NOLES do something its 6 o'clock news with a little bit of help from a certain head coach of a rivalry university. 1998, not one thing was mentioned about QB Johnson of the Gators throwing a football at Coach Bowdens head, not once but twice, can you see it on tape just like the Dockett/Graham incident? Yes you can, but like I said, it all depends on how loud you whine about something that determines the outcome of certain things.
