Back on Sept. 2, BPD wrote, "To quote the legendary Dean Smith, "the real champion is the one who wins the tournament." Don't give me any sh*t about regular season championships. The only thing those are good for is #1 seeds in the tournament."

Then, today -- Sept. 4, just two days later -- BPD followed up with, "I do need to point out one thing, though. "The three BIG NC schools dominate." That had to be the most comical thing you have written so far. Wake has won 22 of the last 27 basketball meetings with NC State. Good try, though."

Incidentally, I want to say to all the Wake fans out there that I have nothing against your school. It's actually pretty good at a number of different things -- which isn't easy to do -- but, as I keep having to point out to the Fearless Hobgoblin Slayer, I can't think of a single thing that Wake is #1 at, or that makes it unique in the ACC.

It's not the oldest school, or the largest, or have the most renowned founder -- one thing for which I frankly envy UVA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> WF doesn't have the best basketball program, or the best baseball program, and it certainly doesn't have the best football program. It doesn't have the best US News and World Report ranking. It MIGHT have the best non-revenue sports program of one sort or another -- a certain poster has implied as much, but supplied no facts to support this.

I provoked such a rage from Deacy the Hobgoblin Slayer, though, by merely stating that WF wasn't Miss Thing of the ACC (BTW, sorry for starting such a firestorm, but when people call my university a "wh*rehouse," I defend my school and even counter-attack. I'm funny that way), that now I'm honestly curious. Any Wake fans who DON'T have to resort to lies, obscenities, and personal attacks -- I know there are lots of you -- want to enlighten me?

I still stand by my two statements. They were both in response to things you said that I thought needed to be addressed. The first statement was in response to you bragging about the number of regular season ACC baseball championships that Florida State has won. My second statement was in response to you implying that NC State dominates Wake Forest and/or the ACC in basketball. Their fans don't even make that claim. I guess they also dominate Florida State in football, right?

If you had to reach for something that makes us unique, we are the smallest school in the conference and were once the smallest school in the nation to have all sports competing in Division I-A. And, before you give me a sarcastic "congratulations", I am merely stating that fact. And, the feeling is mutual. I don't see anything unique about Florida State.

I can understand you defending your school and counter-attacking. That is what any loyal fan would do. That's exactly what I was doing to Paul when you decided to jump in. He felt the need to spout off after we lost and call me out for something I said to another poster. I felt the need to point a few things out to him. But, Paul has turned out to be a great guy. He's trying his best to teach me Russian, which I really appreciate.

Please point out one time I have lied. Just one.

When I first responded to BPD, it was after he
flamed and threatened the guy from Duke.

There were no comments by the moderators, posted
against BPD.

I, for one and BTW, "I'm not the only one," who
liked the idea that BlueDevil had posted, was just
giving the "Forum Bully" a taste of his own medicine.

It was BlueDevil's thread, not BPD's. It was on
topic. Are we not allowed to defend another member's post? Is it OK, for this blow hard, to
spout off, but not OK, for anyone else to respond?

His remark's to BlueDevil were totally uncalled
for.

I would challenge all the "moderator's" to find
any former post by me, that was negative toward
any ACC institution, especially when it involved
playing against teams from outside the ACC.

But, I will show you plenty of remarks made about
Florida State. Plenty of support given to non-ACC
members competing against the Seminoles.

Plenty of this "Criminole" and "Non-educated"
garbage...from the so-called intellectuals.

It is one thing to "trash talk" when our teams
are facing each other, but it is another thing,
to support institutions whose teams do not
have "ACC Patches" sewn on their uniforms.

When you read about how "weak" the ACC is, that
is a put-down to all of us. When any ACC team
is beaten by Non-Conference teams, it is a "loss"
for all of us.

The Big East and the ACC are constantly cast as
the weakest BCS conferences, yet these two leagues
won the most "bowl games" last year of all the
BCS leagues. However, when the magazines hit the
newstands this past June, there was the ACC and the Big East, once again ranked as numbers 5 and
6.

I will tell you...that it bothered me when WF, lost to NIU. It actually hurt a little when the
Field Goal by the Clemson kicker came up short,
especially against an SEC team!

But from what I have read for the past 6 months,
I am convinced that there were plenty "ACC" fans
who were pulling for Iowa State to score.

And that, just like this "bias"..."take it to verbal assault"...comments by so-called non-partisan moderator's...is Bull $hit!

I have never flamed or threatened any Duke fans. I like all the Duke people on this board. However, there was a Boston College fan...

Oh, okay, T4. Now I understand the rules. But now I can't understand why Paul went off in a huff. I mean, from the way he was talking, I don't know what to think.

It's almost like he's implying that somebody responded to a non-gutter talk, non-flaming, non-trash-talk post by threatening physical violence, with obscenities thrown in for good measure. Then, he seems to say, the moderators let the thread go on for more than forty threads and never even reprimanded the threatener, until the very last post. And only then, it almost seems he's saying, the only response was a weak "ok ok... everyone has had their shots at [the poster who was physically threatened]...If you want to continue, go to the VAA," before the moderator locked the original poster's (the non-violent, non-obscene one) thread.

No... THAT could NEVER happen! I must be reading too much.

BTW, the car above is me. Driving out of here.

I've received a number of e-mails, exchanged some e-mails, and complaints about this, and this seems to be much ado about nothing to me. I personally see nothing wrong with the occasional smack talk / personal criticism (as long as it's not a flame). HOWEVER, that is if and only if it is in Verbal Assault. Otherwise it is unacceptable.

If there is a problem with this, feel free to address it in private. This show is over.
