The classical rock station is doing this "20 years in 20 days" thing, where they are playing songs from one year (1964-84 I think) on a given day.

So they're at 1972 yesterday and they play <a href='http://www.superseventies.com/1972_4singles.html' target='_blank'>Brand new Key</a> which I'm sure I'd heard as a kid and really isn't rock

It's a quirky, albeit somewhat sad tune, and the singer has a fine voice that hits very disparate notes in succession.

The singer is Melanie. I never knew the title of the song...I always called it the "Brand new pair of roller skates" song... :laugh:

LMAO.... My kids came over this week-end and were wearing some Rollerskate shoes where you push a little button on the side and a pair of skates down out. SO my girlfriend was like what ever happened to the normal old skates where a key was needed we started laughing about that and then we started singing the song to which all 4 of our kids just looked at us like we were insane...
