It's a different kind of fear. Arkansas might not have experienced it yet so maybe they don't fear.

Penn State, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Kansas State, Alabama, Maryland, etc. have experienced this different kind of fear. You see, if they win people expect that and say no big deal. However, if they lose it really hurts their program because people say Wow, you should have won. Those schools than say it is too much of a risk and don't want to schedule us anymore.

After we beat Penn State 24-6 at Happy Valley, you would think they might want some revenge. Wrong! They won't even talk to us about doing another game.

Pitt fans are saying we better not every play Toledo again, especially in Toledo. This is fear.....a different kind of fear than what I think you are talking about, but nonetheless FEAR!

So you're saying the mid-major (sorry, I hate this term as well) teams Arkansas has played don't count because the Hogs didn't lose?

Well, would you have a fear of losing to a mid-major if you have already been playing them and don't lose to them?

Anyway, I don't really know who Arkansas has played. It is one thing to play Kent State, Louisiana-Lafayette, even UCF.....but it is a totally different thing to play Toledo, Marshall, Northern Illinois, or Bowling Green. You know what I mean?

calling_the_hogs Wrote:I also would think that if it's any SEC school that cancelled out, it's Miss. State for obvious reasons. Arkansas though won't give a home and home to any school whose home stadium is smaller than the smallest SEC stadium (aka, if you want a home-and-home with us, you gotta have a stadium over 41,600...that's Vandy's stadium seating). TCU, at 46,000, is the school with the smallest stadium to get a home and home out of Arkansas (in 2008-09).

If that holds true, according to nationalchamps.net, which has stadium attendance figures for all 1-A schools, only Central Florida could host a home and home with the Razorbacks.

That's what I also mean about building up your stadiums.....not only for $$$, but it's gonna get harder for the big schools to play home and homes with MAC teams with stadiums that small.

WPS
I'm sure we could always schedule a game on a neutral field like Ford Field in Detroit and call it a home game for Toledo. After all, Cincinnati did something similar to get a home game against Ohio State.

Well, as previously stated in this thread. Arkansas played Central Florida recently. The Hogs were also the only team to beat Boise St last season (also previously mentioned).

As for your fear thing, it just seems like when c_t_h mentioned Arkansas' policy with MACers and the like that you were brushing that aside because they didn't lose. Kind of like you are just mentioning the MAC wins and trying to sweep their losses under the rug.

Not sure what you are trying to say. First off UCF was not in the MAC when they played Arkansas.

I mentioned that OSU played Cincy on a neutral field so they could play in a big stadium and it was considered Cincy's home game.

I mentioned that Arkansas could do that with MAC teams like Toledo.....they could also do that with EMU, WMU, CMU, and BG.

I am not mentioning the MAC wins and trying to sweep away the losses. I know the bottom half of the MAC just plain sucks and lose to every BCS team. However, teams like Toledo, BG, Marshall, NIU, and Miami win most of the time against BCS teams.

To add on to that. They went 6-2 in the MAC last season, losing to Toledo and Marshall. The only other good MAC team they played last year was Miami, which they won. They didn't play NIU or BG.

What a friggin joke. Ol Miss would be lucky to place 3rd in the MAC east. They probably couldn't beat Akron, especially not w/ a game in November.

You think that being in the same conference as UGa or LSU makes your team good? You're delusional. Ol Miss sucks right now. And frankly, they haven't been all that great in the past. You can't even get past CUSA cream-puffs, and go out of your way to schedule SBC's weakest teams.

Go back to your sorry-****** SECond rate conference. Your tiny little school can't compete.

Kansas and Missouri, eh? Congratulations. You and most everyone but Baylor and Vandy could do that.
But all the Ol Miss fans are bragging about their win over Vandy. Seems that's all it takes to be a "football power" 03-lol

Besides you may have missed this score

Rumor? Bro, until you have some hard evidence that Ole Miss did back out of playing anybody, for whatever reason, then come back and post that tripe. Until then, nice try.
I can guarantee you whichever SEC team backed out of playing NIU did not do it because of fear, trust me. Money is almost always the biggest factor. And the MAC cannot compete in that category either. Think before you post that garbage. :stupid:
Money? But you SEC fans sell out regardless! Are you saying that La Monroe draws more fans than NIU would?

Actually, this looks like bait that just proves most of you are clueless, since Hoeppner is Miami (OH)'s coach, not NIU. NIU's coach is Joe Novak.

Hey, don't worry, I've known you don't know ****** for a long time.

And we've played a lot of good mid-majors in our time... Boise State the latest...they went 11-1 last year and beat Iowa State like a drum with Seneca Wallace at QB for the Cyclones (lost to us 41-14 though). We played UCF 2 years ago. If you want us, bring it.
No one is ragging on Arkansas.

It's Ol Miss, who schedules Ark St, La Monroe and Memphis OOC and says other teams have a weak schedule.

You can't control your conference schedule, but suddenly the fact is that a MAC-W schedule is tough, and add Purdue and the defending Nat'l champs and you get a pretty damn good schedule.

But, the Ol Miss fans keep following their loser program, and keep arguing that losing to good teams makes a better program than beating better teams. C'est la vie, but that's why the rebel fans are a joke.

(That and the fact that they are suckers for every piece of bait tossed out.)

The reason they would schedule La Monroe and Memphis instead of MAC teams is simply a matter of proximity. They can sell more tickets for a game against a school within driving distance than they can to a school 1,000+ miles away. Get off your damn high horse. Look at it this way...why schedule Rice when Northwestern is just a couple hundred miles away.

Dude, you are an absolute moron. Please show me one Ole Miss fan that EVER bragged about beating Vandy. Please, because I will go smack them around for doing so. Bro, Vandy is nothing to brag about, kinda like beating a MAC team. Get a friggin clue, Flamer!

And this is coming from someone who bragged about beating those powerhouses Kansas and Missouri. :stupid: :stupid:
