 just messin' with you SL!
Landing in the Top 3 last year wasnt that much of a bad thing. And you are correct, we haven't won a Title since 1980 but we could argue that we have 2-3-4 more to that. Then again, I won't even ask the last time Toledo or others went...

Marshall visits Athens next year, well isn't that special. Probably their biggest pay date of the year.

The goal at Georgia is simple, first win the SEC East, then take the Southeastern Conference Championship. Finally, the team met its goals last year. If you do that, everything else will take care of itself (BCS bowls, rankings, etc.). We have our traditional rivalries, Tech, Auburn (who we play every year), and the Gaytors in Jacksonville. Y'all need to remember that the cocktail party results in one less home date. In order to be competitive with the rest of our peers (the SEC) we need to have the patsies on the schedule.

At least Marshall is more likely to be televised than the typical weak sisters we end up playing in September. But that is a helluva a long way off......I'm ready for 2003 to crank it up!

Marshall was 10th in the nation when Pennington was QB...but since they're not a BCS school theres no chance in getting a shot at a National Championship - or better yet a bigger bowl game.

Not really, Marshall plays @ Georgia and @ Ohio State in 2004. I think the OSU game will be much better for their program in terms of revenue and attention. They play @ Tennessee and @ Kansas State this year. They played @ Virginia Tech last season and @ Florida in 2001.

The also have games with Tennesse scheduled in 2006, 2009, and 2010. The seem to be the only MAC school that can get an SEC school to schedule them.

No. The reason you didnt have a chance to play in the Championship game was because of your teams lack of a schedule, in fact joke of a schedule. Let's see, I will give you Clemson, even though they only won 6 games that year. But then Liberty? Bowling Green? Temple? Miami (OH)? Toledo (OH)? Buffalo (NY)? Northern Illinois? Kent St. (OH)? Western Michigan?

There is your answer

Ohio

I'd rank Texas higher in H.S. football than Ohio.

And Georgia, Florida, Alabama and the rest of the South is just as nuts too.

I know Texas is good...I'll give you that...but Ohio is most definitely, without question...the High School football Capital of the world...if I can locate a source to back me up I'll do so...I think it is stated somewhere.... 04-cheers

I believe Texas, Georgia, and Ohio have the best high school football fans. Florida has a lot of talent but it can't compare.

There are some high school stadiums in Ohio that seat 20k - 30k and they fill the stadium every Friday night!

For instance....Massillon....

Paul E. Brown
Massillon Quarterback, 1923-25
Championship Coach: Massillon Tigers,
Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns
Coach of 14 Championship Teams
Founder of the Cincinnati Bengals

I'd go as far to state that Stark/Summit County in Ohio is the H.S. Football Capital of the World

Visit the Ga. Tech board I posted all about McKinley/Massillon (both in Stark County, Ohio) and their stadium pics.

Here's the link to Massillon's stadium (seats over 20,000 now)

<a href='http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/acc/invision/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=6733' target='_blank'>http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/acc/invision...t=ST&f=8&t=6733</a>

McKinley H.S. seats almost 25,000 - they use this stadium for the Hall of Fame games every year.

These are HIGH SCHOOLS

Miami went 10-1 that year. Just because it's not a big enough name to attract a bowl bid doesn't mean they weren't any good.

(FWIW, the RedHawks were passed over for the at-large bid to the Las Vegas Bowl in favor of a 6-5 UNC team that Miami beat in Chapel Hill. But, hey, the BCS structure is totally merit based so there must have been some damn good reason for that. Not that I'm bitter or anything. Stupid Holes. :D )
