Well that's just reality. If those teams can't schedule them, then tough luck.
If Georgia and Ohio State are AFRAID to schedule us because they might lose, then your comments about the worst in the SEC is just ignorance and I can live with your ignorance just fine.
Now you listen here rf. Georgia has NEVER, I MEAN NEVER LOST A ROAD GAME UNDER COACH RICHT. We go to Tennessee, LSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech this year. I doubt very seriously we'd be afraid of Toledo.

Dude, Ohio State isn't afraid to schedule the Rockets. Toledo is in a rotation just like every other Ohio school.

Bowling Green broke the seal, so to speak, in 1992 because Coach Blackney knew Cooper really well. And that came on the heels of a MAC title. Then the Bucks set up a rotation a couple of years later. The Falcons got a second game in 1997 as part of that rotation and they'll get their third this fall. Every other Division I-A Ohio school has played Ohio State by now. We appear to be headed for the second round of that rotation with the Falcon-Buckeye game this fall.

I don't doubt that schools are a bit reluctant to play the likes of Toledo and Marshall. But Ohio State certainly isn't scared.

Some rotation. We have played them once in 1998 and they are not scheduled to play us again in the future. They totally refuse to play us in Toledo.

BG last played Ohio State in 1997 and you are playing them again in 2003. You also played them in 1992. If your rotation was right, we would play them in 2004 or 2005 at the latest. That is NOT the case. Miami (OH) has played Ohio State in 2000.

Here is Ohio State's so called rotation:

1997 - Bowling Green
1998 - Toledo
1999 - Ohio
2000 - Miami (OH)
2001 - Akron
2002 - Kent State and Cincinnati
2003 - Bowling Green
2004 - Cincinnati
2005 - Miami (OH)
2006 - Cincinnati

That is some rotation isn't it? Maybe I should redo my original statement to say that Ohio State is afraid to play Toledo at home. I am sure they will schedule us to play them in Columbus every 10 or 15 years. That really doesn't cut it either though.

Strange, that they want to play Cincinnati so often.

I dunno, Rocket. That's weird.

(God, I hate Cincinnati).

But, until one gets to that 2006 Cincinnati game, it still has the appearance of a rotation.

I don't doubt that and I don't doubt that Georgia would beat Toledo, but the possibility of losing to a team like Toledo is much greater when playing them in Toledo then playing them at Georgia.

By the way, we are getting way off of the original talk of the worst SEC team. Georgia is not even close to being the worst team in the SEC. Even though I am giving you alot of hell, I actually like Georgia and I know they are one of the better teams in the SEC. There probably would beat Toledo very easily.

Don't forget that Cincy played them in 2002 and will in 2004 and 2006. For some reason the Bearcats get to play them a lot more than other teams. In fact, the game in 2002 was considered a home game for Cincy even though it wasn't played on their home field.

It's unrealistic to think Georgia or Ohio State would ever play at the ****** Bowl.

Add 10,000 seats, and maybe it starts to make a tiny bit of sense. Maybe.

I'm sure we could always schedule them at Ford Field and have about 30,000 UT fans there. It could be considered our home game and considering how we have filled the Motor City Bowl the last 2 years I think 30,000 would easily make the 45 minute drive to Ford Field.

You are right about the seating, but with temporary bleachers that we can put in we can seat over 36,000 which is about 10,000 more than our normal seating capacity. In fact, we have had over 36,000 twice in the last 3 seasons.

Syracuse and Pittsburgh have been willing to come to the Glass Bowl. As well as Purdue. The year Purdue came here they went 9-3 winning the Alamo bowl. We were 1 of their 3 losses. Those 3 schools are solid teams and if they are willing to come to the Glass Bowl, why not a school like Georgia and Ohio State.

Toledo has a good history of getting BCS teams to come to the Glass Bowl. We have hosted Syracuse, Pittsburgh (this season), Purdue, Minnesota, Temple several times (yeah they suck!), Indiana, Kansas, and Navy (Not BCS but they do have a good fan support....our largest crowd ever in Toledo was against them)

Well, remember a couple of years ago when BYU (who was ranked in the top 10) played that terrible Mississippi State team and only won by a field goal? If MSU had it's Starting QB, and if not for a few bad calls MSU would have easily beaten BYU.

I hear ya, but remember when the Miami Hurricanes went undefeated and won the National Championship in 1987? Well Toledo played at Miami in our only game ever against them. We only lost 24-14. If we would have had a better team we might have won that game. We went 3-7-1 that year.

Point is, we could do these if this and if that things all day long.

It's worth adding that, a week after that win over Mississippi State, Brigham Young went out and got trounced 70-42 (or something like that) by Hawaii.

Hawaii, then, belongs in the SEC. I guess. Or something. 03-razz

First time I've ever posted on the Sports bar. :D

Rochester Falcon, I would like for Hawaii to join the Pac 10. To me, it's a natural fit for both. The problem is finding a suitable rival to pair them up with. 03-confused

Some teams in the MAC are very underrated. Toledo and Bowling Green are on that list. If they were in CUSA, they might get a little more pub, and also go to more bowls. :)

Welcome to the Sports Bar DawgNBama! We have had some pretty good topics in this forum. I always check the Sports Bar after I check the MAC forums.

I agree RF. I am glad Toledo is in the MAC instead of C-USA.

If a big shakeup does end up happening with the Big East and ACC, I think the MAC and C-USA will be affected quite a bit. Whatever happens, I just hope Toledo and BG are still in the same conference because we have a great rivalry and it just makes sense.

I came up with a dream conference for us if this shakeup happens. What do you think RF?

NEW CONFERENCE
WEST DIVISION
Toledo
Bowling Green
Miami (OH)
Cincinnati
Louisville
Ohio

EAST DIVISION
Virginia Tech (or BC or Syracuse...whoever isn't moving to the ACC)
Marshall
West Virginia
UCF
Rutgers
UCONN

I think Pitt would become the 12th member of the Big Ten

I'm pretty happy with the situation as it stands.

If we lost a couple of our weaklings or Central Florida for Army/Navy/Temple/a Division I-A Massachusetts/a Division I-A Illinois State, I think that could be a step forward.

But I like the MAC as it is set up, pretty much.
