If private space travel someday replaces NASA, it'll be one of the best privatization events in history. Not that NASA is so bad, but billions of tax dollars shouldn't be spent on sending land rovers to Mars (and, yes, I'm an astronomy fan).

This is pretty exciting news, though it's going to be a long time before any of this really begins to even touch what NASA has done. Burt Rutan, the designer, is a genius when it comes to aerospace design. He does his design without any wind tunnel testing. He says it takes too long and is too expensive. He prefers to build the plane and fly it to see how it flies and then make modifications. He's been very successful to this point.

It's one small step in the right direction. However, I'm still waiting for the <a href='http://www.spaceelevator.com/' target='_blank'>Space Elevator</a>

The Company who built much of the spacecraft is Located in Poway (San Diego) CA. They claim to have recieved offers of over 10 million (combined from multiple applicants) who will pay over 100k each to fly in the spacecraft as a passenger.
