Broken glass, blood smears could be evidence

Broken glass, rocks and smears of blood were found inside the car of Allen Iverson's wife, The Philadelphia Daily News reported on its Web site Saturday.

According to the newspaper's report, which cited unnamed sources, police recovered the evidence from Tawanna Iverson's Cadillac Escalade on Thursday with search warrants for the car and Allen Iverson's home.

Police had not yet determined whose blood was found in the SUV.

Tawanna Iverson reportedly drove off the evening of July 2 after allegedly being kicked out of the Iversons' house in Gladwyne. The findings could prove to be evidence of Allen Iverson's breaking the window of the SUV.

The window apparently had been repaired by the time the police seized the car Thursday, but evidence of damage was on the floor.

One source close to the investigations told The Daily News the car was "a woman's closet on wheels."

In the early morning hours of July 3, Iverson and his uncle, Gregory Iverson, asked security guards at a Marriott Residence Inn if there was a car with smashed windows in the hotel's parking lot, according to court documents. Iverson allegedly told the guards his wife was driving the vehicle.

Tawanna Iverson rented two rooms at the hotel on July 1, and checked out just before noon on July 3.

Iverson will be charged with assault and other offenses for forcing his way into an apartment with a gun and threatening two men while looking for his wife.

The NBA All-Star will be allowed to surrender to police Tuesday morning after his lawyer returns from vacation, police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said. Iverson must remain inside his suburban Philadelphia mansion until then.

Sources told The Daily News that a gun was not recovered at Iverson's home. Police also could not find pictures Iverson allegedly took from cousin Shaun Bowman's apartment the night Iverson came looking for Tawanna.

A police spokesman said Friday that police will not be keeping watch on Iverson's mansion, and that police are tightening up the investigation, talking to potential witnesses, and "waiting for Mr. Iverson to turn himself in."

"If Iverson is seen on the street or out partying, we will arrest him,'' Johnson said.
