I was watching CNN Headline News earlier this afternoon and they said a group from New Jersey is threatening to sue Major League Baseball if they don't change the name of the Minnesota Twins. They said that it causes "constant reoccurring visions of the 9/11 horror, and is disrespectful to the victims and families of the attacks on the Twin Towers."

Is this really necessary?!? If it really bothered people, why is it just now coming up 13 months after the attacks?

Don't mean this to sound harsh, but there are going to be things out there that remind people of the horrors of 9/11. Similarly, there are certain things that remind some of us of other terrible things that have happened in our lifetimes (songs or movies or places, perhaps).

Guess what -- taking those reminders away doesn't mean that those terrible things magically didn't happen all of a sudden. They did, and we just have to face that fact. I think it's actually a blessing to have those reminders to help us keep our lives in perspective....

Though Gaulton's "Eugenics Plan" was slightly off, I'm still a big supporter of the Social Darwinism ideas behind it.
