Just when you thought it could get any worse for the Devils, it did.

So much for the high morals and ethics up at UNC-Durham <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

per ESPN.com

</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><hr /><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Duke quarterback Chris Wispelwey, one of three candidates for the starting job, has been charged with driving while impaired, according to a police report.

Wispelwey, a redshirt sophomore, was charged early Sunday morning after he drove the wrong way down a Chapel Hill street, forcing oncoming traffic to drive off the road to avoid a head-on collision, the report states.

Authorities said a police officer had to pull up beside Wispelwey and tell him to pull over. He registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.17, the report states. The level at which a person is considered too drunk to drive in North Carolina is 0.08.

Wispelwey is scheduled to appear in Orange County District Court on Aug. 20.

Wispelwey came out of spring practice fourth on the Blue Devils' depth chart, but was expected to enter preseason practice with a chance to overtake Adam Smith and Chris Dapolito for the backup job behind returning starter D. Bryant, who was 0-21 as a starter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Bryant, however, was declared academically ineligible last month, and Duke coach Carl Franks said last week that any of the three remaining quarterbacks would open practice with a shot at the starting job.

Wispelwey saw limited action in three games last season, going 2-of-4 for 55 yards and a touchdown.

A message left with the Duke football office seeking comment on Wispelwey's charge was not immediately returned. </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">

Sorry about that JD. Normally I look around the ACC boards before I post something. This time, all I did was scan the ACC front page and didn't see it.

No problem. It's just kinda frustrating because it's happened three times now in the past couple of days -- twice on the same forums....
