Louisville to become the 16th largest city...
Article today estimated that after Louisville's county merger, Louisville would have 693,604 citizens, making it the 16th largest city in the nation.
Now, as a SMA (Statistical Metropolitan Area) Louisville would still rank around #50, but the merger would boost the actual city population size from around 250,000 to nearly 700,000 when the new census numbers are released.
Interesting stuff.
Hopefully this may help a little bit in our bid to become a member of the BigEast or ACC.

I'd love to see Louisville join the ACC. Bring them in with Miami and Virginia Tech!

I write weekly e-mails to both Louisville administration and any address I can find for the BigEast and the ACC about the addition of Louisville.
I feel strongly that it would benefit everyone involved.
C-USA gives out an average of 1 million a year in conference affilitation moneys, just to contribute into and benefit from the BigEast (7 million last year) and the ACC's (9 million) conference afill money would be well worth the switch as far as Louisville is concerned.
The ACC or BigEast would get a highly competitive and well supported University with a solid athletics program.

Do you ever get responses back from the e-mails?

Yeah, everytime.
Many times its an automated response, other times they are more informative.
Most thank me for the suggestion, compliment Louisville, and then promote a conference event.

I agree with Terpy. Just add Miami and we would be set, assuming they would join. I want everyone to play everyone so it is fair. And I dont want to have a conference championship game. Going to 12 teams will also probably cause an NC split, and I dont want to see that either.
