first off, a point guard doesn't make a team, although i do like waltons style of play in zona. He reminds me of Dunleavy. Back to what everyone is arguing about, coming from my point of view this is how the acc stacks up next year. Duke, UNC, MD..... (the rest doesn't concern me). Here are my points. Although Tahj did play, he didn't have significant mintutes such as players from Duke like Ewing. A bright spot in the MD program will be Randle. He looks to me as a clone of Lonny Baxter, but that doesn't change next year's outcome because Lonny didn't become who he was in a 1 years time. Randle will be a key for MD starting the 2003-2004 season, thats given. Staying on MD's program, they do have a good PG in Blake, BUT (EMPHASIS ON BUT) a good PG is really only good as his teamates. If you looked at MD's run to the NCAA Championship, Blake and Juan, Wilcox, Baxter, Muton, all players that were very much capable of scoring. He made his mark by getting them the ball, but with Juan, Baxter, and Wilcox gone, i don't believe he can show that much, yet don't get me wrong he will still have stron numbers. Coach Williams will be able to put something together although i only forsee MD as a 9-15 Ranked in the nation, even that im not sure of since i haven't been able to look at the whole list of contenders. Next to Carolina. They are a struggling program although they will have IMPACT players coming in. When "Jay" Williams (i cringe at the name change) first came to Duke, he immediatly showed excellent numbers. If you look at Carolina's recruits you have a name that stands out...Felton. I watched him play at the TOC and he was very good, although he still has a little to go before becoming one of the premire players in college basketball. I think he will take the same course as Jay took by putting strong numbers in Freshman year, and then getting really good. Sean May is a space eater/ beast he will have strong numbers. Finally, McCants, i've heard is also a great player so UNC is set. Jawad williams will have a presence downlow. One thing i do have to bring out about UNC is that Manuel and Scott are not real great players. Hate to break it to the UNC fans, but i rather like to see felton be the main pg with manuel or scott subbing in at the 1, and 2. Finally, Duke. I beleve that Jones will have improved his game during this summer, he will be a big piece of puzzle to the Duke's 2002-2003 season. There is not much to say about Ewing, except that he is a rising star, he has a great offensive game and with Coach K behind him he can do great things. Duhon will be Duhon, although i hope for his own good that he will not shirk from the responsibility of being a scorer. He hasn't showed a great amount of scoring ability although he was foreshawdowed by dunleavy and williams. This coming year is his year, i believe we will see good offensive numbers becuase he will have to carry some of the load for Duke. A disadvantage/ yet advantage could be their recruits. Hands down, Duke has the most, or sharing, the #1 recruiting class with UNC. They have super talent, although inexperience. Late into the season is when you will see if they have gel-ed or haven't come together, but again with Coach K i think he will have them ready come Tourney time. All in all, these three teams will be outstanding, but i don't think we will be seeing them cutting down the nets for the championships, ALTOUGH at the same time, it is very possible. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
