Two guys who could kick the whole worlds ass, two at a time!
Back when boxing was boxing,(i.e. pre Don King) I loved watching these two go toe to toe........"Down goes Fraiser, down goes Fraiser!"

Actually, Don King got started promoting Ali's fights. Ali was amazing. I only got to see the tail end of his career live. But, I've seen all of his championship fights on tape. Nobody ever had the chin that Ali had. Man, could he take a shot.

he might of been amazing and all...and he was...
I don't know his full life's story, but didn't he refuse to go to war?
I don't have much respect for him...
although he was the best boxer that ever lived

Yes, he did refuse to go to war. And he stood up for his beliefs. And it cost him. He did not run to Canada, or England, or anywhere else. He went to jail. Maybe you should find out more about him, and his convictions, before passing judgement.

I guess everything I have read about him, I read many years ago. Don King was not the household name then. What a dirtbag he is.

Then I would think you would call the founding fathers of this country cowards.

How are you going to call Ali a coward??? He stepped into the ring figuring he would get his ass whooped 3/4 of the fight.
And you call him a coward.

Muhammed Ali is and was very religious man. When Casius Clay (his original name)discovered and studied Muslim, he converted. In spite of what most people believe, Muslim teaches peace! Ali became a "conscientious objecter" to fighting in any war. He believes that any killing is wrong. He spent time in jail to be sure and he lost a lot of money too. But his boxing skills were so fantastic that he could not be erased from the boxing world.
I don't know how old you are tf4, but those of us who watched his life unfold on TV probably have a better understanding of what he did sacrifice for his deep religious beliefs.
(The biggest fight my Dad and I ever had was over Ali's conversion and objection. We still argue about it!)
I love Ali!!

does Ali have Parkinson's Disease or something else? I saw him on a show with Michael J. Fox (who has Parkinson's) and I assumed Ali had it as well since the show was about it, but I'm not sure.

I can't remember which channel it was on...but it gave me a lot of respect for somebody that until then I had known little about. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

I'm sorry, I am never going to support calling someone a coward for not fighting either because they a) do not believe in war, or b) are afraid of war.
I have the utmost respect for the men and women who die in battle for our country, because they have paid the highest price for my freedom and for others. Let me say that first and foremost.
But, I could not pick up a gun and shoot another human being -- except for a few mitigating circumstances of self defense. And, I realize it's something of self defense in battle, but there is a huge difference (in my mind) between killing someone in battle doing the same thing for his country as I am for mine... and killing someone trying to cause personal harm to my family, myself, or other civilians. The latter is the only circumstance I would ever be involved with taking another human being's life.
Call me a coward for that if you will.

Terpy: That's a question to really make me think. I think a lot would depend on the circumstances. If I had the opportunity to hand him over to someone else, for instance, then I probably wouldn't kill him. If I knew that he was planning something else and killing him it was the only way I could stop it, then I probably would. But, no -- I wouldn't kill him just to be his executioner.
Note that bin Laden would definitely fall in that second category I mentioned who has tried and is trying to bring personal harm to other civilians.
It's a moot point because we all know that it isn't the crazy masterminds that fight the battles anyway.
