Indeed! I saw them a couple months ago and my face melted to the floor (even though the crowd sucked..everyone just STOOD there..WTF!). But yea, they're honestly one of my favorite bands at the moment. Repetition has never sounded so good...

I'm breaking the rules here and posting an old band. I was reading Frick's picks at http://www.rollingstone.com and this band jumped out at me, so I gave it a listen.

Socrates Drank the Conium was a band from Greece in the early 70s. Check out this singer. He's the Greek Ed Vedder circa 72 . . . or Ed Vedder is the American Socrates Singer . . . or something like that.

Enjoy

Nice, I am liking this quite a bit!

I'm going to throw out a couple I've been enjoying latey:

Parts and Labor. The new album is quite good; they dont have any tracks from it on their Myspace, but the lead track Satellites I have posted below for your downloading pleasure. They have a knack for creating epic stuff...keeps building and building until it feels like its going to boil over

Also the only band I have found that can make bagpipes rock.

Pete Rock and INI
For those who love "golden age" hip hop. Pete Rock is best known for his landmark albums with CL Smooth, but this criminally unknown one-off project from 1995 is nearly as good (for a long time only was available as a bootleg). The trademark droning hazy/jazzy production, intelligent lyrics...everything rap should be and usually isnt. A couple tracks to illustrate my point:
Mind Over Matter
Step Up

Isis
Sculptors of atmospheric, experimental (mainly instrumental) post-metal.

Saw these guys credited for the music in a short film I watched online. I enjoyed it and think a couple of y'all might find it interesting.
