I'm wondering about this. Winning it all the way we did in both football and basketball in the same year. Makes for the perfect recipe for it.
Do you think it'll go to our heads?
God please shoot me if I start acting like a Dookie
Bring It - I wanna hear what everyone thinks.

Won't happen. Fridge and Gary won't let it. As far as true fans, not for a few years anyway, too much history. Some bandwagon fans are already there. Drew, you are an a**

I don't think it will happen either. We had a great year, but our football program is still establishing itself and our basketball program is doing a great job of maintaining its level of excellence. I think most Maryland fans are enjoying all the wonderful things that have happened this year, but they aren't walking around thinking without a doubt that it's all going to get repeated year after year. That's elitist.
Plus, it's not just success that make dookies act the way do. It's part of their culture. Rt1 attended McDonough High School... rich kid prep school. The students there acted the same damn way. The phenomenon that I can't get over with dookies is how their basketball fans, that have never attended the school, take on this air of elitism. And I say basketball fans because that's part of the phenomenon... they have this "deep-seeded" passion for ONE sport at a school they've never attended, visited, or otherwise been associated with.

I don't think so. At least not right now. If we were to sustain this level in both sports for a few years, then I could see it happening. Our fan base is littering with pessimists. Also, we do not have the legions of bandwagon fans that other schools have. Hell....we're already predicted to drop back into the pack next year in both sports.

that's only natural right lawrence? i mean after 2 straight final 4's, we're not gonna have a giant year afterwards, but with this year's recruiting class --- i like our chances for future years

Man, we would have to have a TREMENDOUS mental turnaround to be consistently arrogant! Sure, we can be insufferable here and there, like before we play bad teams, like UNC, but most of the time we're all waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Our humble past will ensure a humble future...

"Will they get arrogant?"...
Shouldn't it be, will they get more arrogant???
Just kidding.
I dont think you guys will get arrogant or more arrogant. I mean, you still are one more national championship away from us...soooo...what's there to be arrogant about! In basketball at least. You guys own bragginst rights on football.
As long as you guys remain a considerable distance from the arrogance of Chapel Hill and Duke fans...then you'll be alright.

I think most Maryland fans remember so many disapointing moments in our basketball history, it will take a little longer before we can reach "arrogance". I just hope we never get bandwagon fans in mass numbers like Duke has.
