I was surprised at Nevada's win over LaTech. They are making a believer out of me.

...I will be eagerly watching the Boise -utah state game, to get some kind of indicator how close fresno and Boise really are at this point. Utah wouldve been close without the 4 turnovers but Fresno defense stresses tackling and stripping, and smacking the hell out of any running backs. Boise hasnt been strong in the TO ratio this year, but whoever changes this game. Will it be Boise causing turnover after turnover with improved enthusiasim2 of old? or will Utah hang on to the ball, after obviously going thru some hand drills this week? Will the home crowd pump up the aggies. should be a good indicator from the bulldogs point of view. We cant play Boise soon enough, trust me there's no looking ahead from the bulldogs, they are aiming at everyone game at a time. But I'm a fan,so I can look ahead. i cant wait for hawaii and Boise. Boise is for sure going to be an electrical sellout. But first Idaho to offically welcome all three newbies to the WAC. They are all going to be fun to watch in a couple years.

as an outsider who has seen two my my conference brethren beaten soundly by boise state and fresno state, i think those are very good teams.

i don't know if boise state played at hawaii - but most of the midwest believes that games at hawaii are not a telling sign of how good or bad a team is - but rather just how badly officiated it was. having seen hawaii torn apart by michigan state earlier this year, i don't think they're a factor in your race - except what their home officials do. most here are pretty convinced all is not right in hawaii after the u of cincinnati joke and then the wisconsin and michigan state robberies last year.

i think you'll end up being very pleased with utah state, nmsu and idaho after they can get some recruiting done as members of a conference on their own side of the country.

so my un-attached opinion of the wac:
1. boise state
2. fresno state
3. la-tech
4. nevada
5. utah state
6. hawaii (until they beat a team with a winning record away from their officials - i remain unimpressed)
7. idaho
8. sjsu
9. nmsu

Boise played on the islands, but while officiating can be bizzare there, Hawaii really plays much, much better at home. Their crowd fires them up, they are like rock stars there and are very tough to beat at home; they are typically very athletic but tend to lose focus off the islands. Michigan state found that out.
