RE: DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!
ESPN couldn't wait for Memphis to lose. It's sickening how excited they were getting. Memphis pulling it out was sweet. I loved seeing ESPN fumbling around like idiots!

Memphis is undefeated and he has you guys FOURTH!? Behind TENNESSEE? And what is this love affair with UCLA, I have not been impressed with them at all.

Hail CatsClaw!
While I am more impressed with UCLA than you, I somewhat agree with your assessment that the media is hyping them beyond their abilities.
Prior to the Hoyas' loss to us yesterday, the Bruins had lost to Texas (at home), USC (at home), and lowly Washington on the road. GT had lost to Memphis (on the road), Pittsburgh (on the road), and Louisville (on the road) - yet the media keeps hyping the Bruins and knocking the Hoyas.
I don't get it. Howland has done wonders for the program and I know it's important for college basketball to have a major force out west, but let's try and have some objectivity.
Anyone who doesn't have Memphis as the number team in the country is just being silly. Yes, they have flaws that may catch up to them in the tourney, but as of this moment they are flat out the best team in the nation - NO CONTEST!
Cheers,
Neil

I've always said ESPN announcers are nothing more than cheerleaders for their alma maters, and other teams they favor. Nothing more, nothing less.

RE: DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!
The bizarre thing is that I heard ESPN hype UCLA, Georgetown, Kansas, Duke and North Carolina because they have tournament experience. I guess they conveniently forget that Memphis has back-to-back Elite Eight appearances. And there only season ending losses the last two years were to the national title runner-ups.

Yes, 4th behind KU, UCLA and Tennessee. Sometimes people say it when it isn't true, but isn't it obvious this guy is a BCS elitist? He's looking at the name on the jersey and what conference we're in and not looking at what we've accomplished.
We could easily lose to KU, UCLA or Tennessee (we play them in six days), but our resume is better than anybody out there. To have us #4 last week in an insult to me.
If K-State or USC or Kentucky or Purdue was undefeated with an 8-0 record against top 50 RPI opponents do you think he'd have them at #4? He'd probably tell you that he has Tennessee higher because they play in a tougher conference. However, he wouldn't tell you that C-USA is 5-4 against the SEC this season.

Correction: that is 5-3.

RE: DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!
The media has been hyping Tennessee all season too. We are going to see just how good the Vols are when they roll into Memphis. I look for the Tigers to win going away, by 10 or more. Memphis is certainly the best team in the country. Will they win it all, it's anybody's guess. But I think we have our best shot for an udefeated champion since 75-76.
