Notary seal
Yes, I know, so boring, but important info.

The seals for notary commissions were changed in July of 2004, and you had until your commission expired after that date to change them. The seal now has to say "State of Tennessee" in the middle, and black ink is no longer allowed.

The only problem is that the County left the info sheet about that out of my packet, and I have been using the wrong seal since last fall. 04-jawdrop I am an absolute nut about reading all the fine print, so I KNOW what I received. Doofus County employee who swears she mailed the info sheet, but my stamp store says numerous people have come in saying the same thing. 04-chairshot My bonding company, unlike previous ones I have used, did not alert me either. Gee, thanks.

Just be forewarned. 01-lauramac2

RE: Notary seal
I used my old seal until my last commission expired and I never had any trouble.

It was an impression seal, though.

RE: Notary seal
Impression seals have been outlawed for quite some time now. I had to discontinue using mine about four years ago when ink stamps were required.

You have to have an ink stamp now that says "State of Tennessee" in the middle rather than "at large." This change took place in July, 2004 and you had to change your stamp when your commission expired after that date.

The owner of the store that made my new stamp told me today that he makes about 12 notary stamps a week, and only about 1-2 of his customers know about the new stamp requirement. He said this problem has been going on for months and months and months. He believes the County employee, who claimed that people just don't read instructions, is telling me BS.

So, that leads me further to believe that the woman in the County notary office is not telling the truth when she said she has been including the new info sheet in with the notary packets. Kind of a serious problem, don't you think?

Oh, yeah, I haven't had a problem either, but I think it's just because no one has yet noticed that my stamp was not correct. The only way I found out I was using the wrong stamp is because I notarized a friend's application to be a notary, and this same witch in the Clerk's office rejected it, saying the stamp was wrong.

Out of curiosity, do you or does your company charge for a notarization?

Just in Tennessee? My soccer players need notarized medical forms to play in tournaments and easily a fourth of them give them to me with impression stamps.
