Not a link but it looks like this guy made you week's ago. Who are you calling "second tier programs"? In football your Tarholes are a second tier program...LOL And your ACC a second tier conference 1-9 in the BCS....LOL
CJ
I made him as a Tarheel fan when he defended Butch Davis. I admire the other Tarheel posters, because at least they are not on covert missions to defame another in-state school.

Butch Davis is a great coach! I don't think Savage is a covert op. Now if he can name the '93 title team's entire starting line-up without searching then, maybe.....

RE: More "smoke" regarding Memphis and the Big East
Why does every expansion thread have to blow up and people get off topic and bash other programs that may or not be on the short list if there is a split. Lets face it we know who we would like to see in a new conference if that happens. Who knows the Big East may or may not change in the next 5-10-15 years. We simply don't know. The A.D's will get together and decide on who's the best option whether its Memphis, UCF, ECU, Temple, Ohio U, Miami(Oh), BC, ND, Maryland, Virginia, Penn St. We all have opinions so respect other peoples opinions and they'll respect yours.

I think Utah just scored another touchdown on you. Enjoy Steve Kragthorpe, the coach who can turn a national title contender into a team who can't even make a bowl game.
Way to change the subject. Looks like you been busted Tarhole.
CJ
Truth hurts doesn't it? Enjoy your newfound mediocrity. You had a good run from 2004-2006. And apparently some people consider you a UNC fan if you don't like ECU. So be it.

I don't hate UNC. I don't like the elitist attitude of some ACC fans that post on this board. Some ACC fans think more highly of themselves than they should. The ACC, post-expansion, hasn't done dick on the national scene. The ACC hasn't won a BCS game post expansion and have only won 1 since the BCS began. Instead of recognizing that their conference isn't what it was supposed to be, since the expansion, some ACC fans that post here, act like their conference is the second coming of the SEC.
BTW I actually like ACC basketball and respect UNC and Duke for what they accomplish on the hardwork. So I'll answer your question with a question...Do you hate the idea of Memphis joining the Big East, which you and the other ACC fans that post here, shouldn't have an opinion one way or the other on, because the Tigers knocked you out of the tournament?

It is just too easy to dislike unc.
Most of their fans are bandwagon, Walmart fans (Wal-heels), and obnoxious.
Definition of Walheel- never been to a game at unc, never attended a class at unc, never contributed to any unc fund, and buy their unc gear from Walmart.

I'd like to edit the definition of the Wal-Hell since I am constantly surrounded by them.
Please include that they are the first one to brag, be obnoxious, and try and put your team down. I find it fun to ask the four-toothed Rickys what years they attended Keer-i-lina. They NEVER have an answer.
Wal-Heels are the worst.

RE: More "smoke" regarding Memphis and the Big East
I know I'm going back a bit, but, yes I think Memphis can be as good, on the field, as Tennessee. They will never carry the state or have the fan support, but they can be as competitive. That is like saying Cincinnati can never be as good as Ohio St., USF will never be as good as FSU, Miami, or Florida, Louisville will not be as good as UK. All those teams own their respective states fan wise. I really think Memphis will be as good on the field as TN.

Tennessee is the #1 program in that state it does the Big East no good to grab the 3rd best program in that state. Even if the Big East were to grant Memphis into the BCS club they still will not overtake Tennessee. That my issue with the Big East currently in football and were alot of disrespect stems from we have to many 2nd tier programs in there respective states. Penn State,Ohio State, and Kentucky all have bigger fanbases and more influence in there respective states then there Big East counterparts thus looking down on those BE programs and BE itself. An example of this UofL goes to the Orange Bowl and wins yet UK still owns that state (Bigger fanbase, influence in the state, larger stadium etc) will continue to be #1 until UofL manages to win a NC and even then it might not change
Please dont make me laugh. Why would tennessee leave the SEC and its big bucks for the Big east.
It is what it is. and BE is NOT going to pull anyone from ACC,SEC nor Big10. So all the league can do its build its schools and fan bases to rival those of the big state schools.
FSU with success has been able to do very well but is NOT comparable to the pull UF has in our state. USF is NOT going to replace UF but it can build a following that could rival it eventually.
Whether anyone wants to admit it or not those state schools have had a BIG advantage for many years and have not only the following of their alumni but of those that never step into those universities.
Spot on! I think Pusher's 'lament' that the BE can't get flagship institutions has swirled off the field here by his use of '2nd tier programs.' 2nd tier would seem to indicate that the schools in question played in a different division or something, clearly not the case.
Simply because, say, UL is not #1 in the state, doesn't mean they are not a very respectable #2. The big flagships are not available to the BE. We've got an eclectic collection of schools, some of whom have little to no history with others, and this seems to bring out unnecessary tensions.
As CB noted, it's not about overtaking and replacing the State U's, it's about being competitive and rising up to look them squarely in the eye. By garnering that kind of attention our schools can go through life with our heads held high, never fearing that Big U is going to make us their Beeyotch

I don't understand your statement. Tennessee has tremedous fan support. What school in the Big East or any other school compares? Michigan maybe....
The point here is that SEC schools like Ole Miss, Miss St. Arkansas, and even Tennessee realize that a BCS conference for Memphis would not be in their best interest. The recruiting area in and around Memphis is plenty fertile and a good number of these kids going elsewhere might decide to stay closer to home if Memphis' conference were BCS caliber. They do not want Memphis mainly because they think Memphis is already "their" market. And they do not want to see Memphis in a BCS conference.
Memphis has a great deal of potential in football that could be realized with BCS inclusion. They are an immediate asset in basketball and potential gem in football for the right conference...
Do you really think UT would leave the SEC? Really?

A Syracuse fan pissed off about still being in the Big East. We've not seen that before....
As for UK being number on in Kentucky...that's almost laughable. The Wildcats just finished their best season in 50 years at 8 -5. One of those wins was a busted play hail-mary broken coverage win with 28 seconds left over 6-6 Louisville team just finishing its worst season in 10 years. Yeah UK is superior to Louisville....LOL
UofL has won 9 of the last 11 games against Kentucky. Until last year no player on UK's squad had ever beat Louisville. UK is number in football in the state and they know.
As for state support...UK fans can't spell "university". Most have never attended a game. Their stadium is an erector set of aluminum built with tax payer money. A place UK and Louisville fans both call "Cardinalwealth" since the cats have managed to beat Louisville once in 6 years.
Next time you flame at least be smart enough to flame about something you know about. I'm sure most Syracuse fans are ashamed you call yourself one.
CJ

Thorough knowledge of the Bible shows that The Lord Jesus Christ would actually throw the corrupt money changers out of Temple - an act the namesake institution has somewhat paralleled in recent years - and then the University would have a clean slate and fresh start to move forward into a brighter future rather than dwelling on errors of a bygone era.
