It's not everyone else's fault that they decided to schedule Samford and submarine their SoS. Blame whoever put that on your schedule.

As opposed to that powerhouse Florida Atlantic?

Hey at least they're not FCS.

Anyway, I'm not bitching about UT not being selected. These things happen and there was no completely right decision. OU won the Big East lotto and got lucky with Cincy's season. They also got TCU on an upswing. Good for them.

RE: &^$% YOU BCS!
The point of the BCS is to make the best 2 teams play each other. What happens when there are more than 2 "best" teams? The old system solved this no better than the BCS, except it allowed more than one Champion.

If you ask me, I think the championship game is going to be Saturday in Atlanta. The two best teams are in the SEC. I think you'll see whoever wins that game STOMP the Big 12 representative.

If there is a playoff then you have to include all conference champions, so at least a 12 team, possibly 16 team tournament. Undefeated Ball State wouldn't get in the tourney if it were only based on rankings.

Yeah, the SEC definitely has the best teams this year. I mean, look at all of their strong OOC wins! Teams like... ummm... uhhh... Tulsa? I'll grant that Florida is looking impressive, but what has 'Bama done? Put up 172 yards of offense against Tulane? Eek out an OT win against an LSU team without a QB? Find a way to almost blow it against UK at home?

Why in the hell does an OOC game matter when you're playing in the SEC or Big 12? Last time I looked, the Big 12 isn't really scheduling any strong OOC teams either.

Rebel,

How can you tell if a team is good if they only play good teams in their own conference? I mean, if all of the SEC scheduled the sisters of the poor as out of conference then you can't really guage just how good they are compared to the other top teams.

I'm ready for a playoff, personally.

We've played C-USA (W), the ACC (Lost by 2 on a final second FG by Wake), the Sun Belt(Blowout), and it looks like we'll be playing the Big-12. Not to mention, we beat the Gators in the swamp, beat the Tigers in Death Valley, lost to the #1 team in the country by 4 at their house, and the 4 games we lost, were by a combined total of 19. UGA lost 3 by a combined total of 53.....and 2 of those 3, we played.

We weren't supposed to be this good this year. We've gotten consistently better as the team started playing like a "team". I credit Houston Nutt. Just calling your players "Wild Boys" doesn't cut it in the D-1A.

OOC games matter because they give some connectivity between the conferences. If the SEC only played SEC teams, how would we know their level of performance relative to a league like the ACC? Would we still think that the SEC is superior to the ACC this year, even when the results on the field tell a different picture?

Anyway, the top 15 teams in the AP poll have a combined 3 OOC losses. One (OSU) was to a Pac 10 team and the other two (Cincy and TCU) were to a Big 12 team. The Big 12 has beaten more strong OOC opponents than any other conference.

Wake has been average at best all year and you lost. Who'd you play from C-USA? There is a large range of talent between the teams.

It was the second game of the year with a new coach. Since Bama beat us at their place by 4 points, we've been 5-0, and we're the only team that's beaten the Gators.

Your time will come if you keep winning, Rebel. I hate the BCS, but it is the system we are all stuck with.

Pretty simple... if you want respect, keep winning. It took Cincinnati 3 years to get any respect, if you keep winning next year you'll get your respect.

Alabama is the best team in the country. Not Florida, not Texas, not Oklahoma, not USC and not Penn State.

Alabama is going to beat Florida like I beat my dick...I mean...uhh...

Quote:However, we (Texas) got a chance to prove ourselves on the field and we lost a game we shouldn't have. That's just the way things are. If you really want to complain, then you need to make sure that you do EVERYTHING you can in order to deserve the shot. The playoffs are the regular season in college football and we didn't come out unscathed. Anyone that gets into the national title game with a loss is just lucky.

If the Big XII Conference had the same rules concerning tiebreakers like the SEC and ACC, Texas would be playing Mizzou for the Big XII Conference Championship this coming Saturday and have inroads to the BCS Championship Game. Having a tiebreaking system that is totally attached to the BCS is extremely stupid and that's why the Big XII Commissioner's Office is under pressure right now to change it after the season. I agree that the regular season is the playoff but you must consider that we played Tech on the road after an incredible tough stretch and still nearly won the damn game. We kicked OU's ass at a neutral site. OU and Tech had two weeks to prepare for one another. There was absolutely no excuse for Tech getting beat like they did and they should have never been considered in any part of the tiebreaker. Rebel is right when he states that both the SEC and Big XII really are not looking for really strong OOC scheduling. I, for one, hope that Ole Miss continues to be a respectable program. We play them in a Home-Home series starting in 2012 and the Longhorns simply cannot afford for the Rebels to go back into absolute suckage.

BTW, I think Ole Miss should be ranked in the Top 25 at least. We'll see how good the Rebels are when they play Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. :) Should be a great QB battle between Graham Harrell and Jevan Snead.

Sorry, I like the Crimson Tide but I just do not see them beating Florida right now. One never truly knows and you cannot count out a Nick Saban coached team. Let's just say it does not bode well for Alabama right now.

If Florida plays OU in the BCS National Championship, they will beat the Sooners like a rented mule and I will have much joy in my heart when that happens.
