If they want, we could put a huge, U shaped concrete structure in the middle of our campus, name it after them, then host events that draw thousands of people to it a bunch of times a year; but blatently branding what is supposed to be an amateur team would seem like an errant decision.
However, Fred-Ex is the only thing keeping us from hitting the threshold of Detroit-south- and I am not talking like Detroit Rock City; I am talking like old Detroit in Robo-cop.
So as long as Fred keep the dad from that 70's show from dealing coke and killing Buckaroo Banzai, we can play dress-up for him if he wants.

There's no doubt there will be upset folks and that's to be expected. Bottom line is that you can't please everyone.

RE: (edit) Any info on special uniforms next HOME game?
Personally, it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it, and that is not figurative language, I am literally nauseated. That is my feeling and that in no way takes away from what FedEx and their employees have done...it's just that I cannot physically stand the idea.

There are a million other ways to thank those people and FedEx that would get a positive reaction.

This will get an overwhelmingly negative reaction from our own fan base, as well as the things RCM said.

How does that do anyone any good?

If it is Cal's idea, it is a sign that he is human because it would be his worst idea ever.

I'm not upset because it is FedEx colors and it is selling out - I'm offended because the colors of our uniform should not be anything other than our school colors.

How long has it taken for the FedExForm crowd to wear more blue than other colors?

Might as well throw that out the window if the team is going to wear other colors.

But the idea of ORANGE as a primary color on Tiger unis is really the worst of it for me. I can't handle it, and believe me I am going to be making phone calls and registering my protest - BEFORE it happens.

Many thousands of people (the overwhelming majority who attend, watch, or hear about it) who don't know beforehand are going to FEEL betrayed. I'm just telling it like it is. That's not "not pleasing everybody" - it's offending MOST of your fan base.

There HAS to be a better way. ANYTHING else other than what they wear in the game.

Look at the bright side guys. As superstitious as Cal is, if we're loosing or struggling at half time, then we'll be back in the old unis for the second half. I mean, the man change back to dress shoes for the second half of the Coaches vs. Cancer tennis shoes game a few weeks ago. NO WORRIES MAHN!!!!!

Change is a good thing. I think the players will get a kick out of it while they kick tail once again.

That is my moto we live by. After what they have done for us it would be so petty to be upset about it. 01-wingedeagle

We only have 3 home games left, SMU, Southern Miss and Tulane. We could win any of those while playing naked and with one arm behind our back.

Should we have a purple out? 03-lmfao

Why do something that is guaranteed to upset many people, when you could accomplish the same thing (honoring FedEx and its execs who are donors) in many other ways without upsetting people?

I defy those who defend this to explain why it is a good decision. It is a horrible idea for many reasons, and the only good thing it accomplishes could be done other ways.

still makes me sick to think of the Tigers wearing ORANGE as a primary color.

At least they won't be dressed in UPS fatigues. That would be kinda sick.

I don't care what the Tigers wear as long as they KICK A** while wearing it.

However, being superstitious as I am (and I know many athletes/coaches are), I always have to wonder how a new uniform or new routine, etc. will affect the players, even if on a mental level only.

Also, this really seems like the setup for an April Fool's joke, but I guess that's too far away.

Even as a traditionalist, this sounds like a lot of fun to me. I'm all for something a bit out of the ordinary for a single game.

The players will get a kick out it, and we'll be establishing a considerable amount of good will with one of our biggest supporters.

It would only be cool if we got Billy Donovan to coach us.

as usual, BOSSMAN you have no answer whatsoever

you might as well go start "orange planet"

that would make as much sense (I don't know, you might like it).

there are other ways to honor those guys and fedex -but this is a very bad idea.

I am assuming that this was Coach Cal's idea. I just can't imagine anyone from Fed-Ex asking for this to be done. So, if Cal and the team are ok with it why can't we all just grin and bear it for ONE game ?
