5-7 doesn't make us the best in the state by any means, but it's not like we're being dominated by them. I think that says a lot about the strength of our non-AQ program.

Otherwise, yes. Politics worked in our favor for once.

Wake and Duke are private schools. The political machine doesn't quite work in such situations...

Evaluators are just not taking it that seriously. And who could, with every institution being listed? Not to mention personal bias because just as Machen couldn't bring himself to rank a northern school above a 3 if it weren't an Ivy, ND, Northwestern, MIT, or Johns Hopkins, I'm sure many northern presidents felt that way about any school in the SEC.

Seriously: it's IMPOSSIBLE that the UF President has a working knowledge on the academic quality of all these schools listed. There are 200+ schools listed!

So, he probably went "uh, I've never really dealt with this school much ..... plus, I've never seen them listed as a top school in any of the previous editions of these rankings (a ridiculous "positive feedback" that is part of these rankings) ..... uh, they get a 2 (default)."

Heaven forbid he use the "don't know" option at the right.

And from a very "scientific" survey such as this, we get the very highly publicized USNWR rankings.
