Likely not this year but starting next year things should start turning around in our favor. We have goals of being an NCAA/NIT rep for CUSA in basketball as well as an eventual BCS buster in football for CUSA.

I could live with ODU and maybe Temple (If they bring Basketball) because they bring a lot of upside to the table in "ALL SPORTS" including nice markets and additional exposure here in the east. I say that assuming that CUSA may one day need a replacement or find value in expanding to 14. Maybe 6-8 years down the road Charlotte could be a possibility but its way to premature to be talking about them even though they do have good future upside.

Go Herd!!!

Going by your standards Marshall should never have been allowed in CUSA. You keep talking about Marshall growing into a competitive team in CUSA even though you've been in CUSA for 6 years. Maybe you're worried that lil ole ASU will come in and be better than the mighty Herd from the get go. Seems like we already knocked you out of the basketball post season last year with our lowly SoCon players. I doubt you'd want to play our baseball team (38 wins last year beat #20 Miami last night), or our womens basketball team (beat memphis last year and has 24 wins this year) either. I can see why the Herd fans would hate for us to be on an even playing field.

let this d***n thread die already... :muttering:

There are more important things going on right now.

That would be one way for Herd fans to not face facts.
I'm sorry if I think that the conference BB race (the most exciting in the country) is more important than a bloated discussion on a non-starter expansion candidate.

You need to realize that ASU is beneath Marshall in FCS (not even in the best FCS conference) and will most likely be there for a long while, as there are no openings in any of the eastern leagues. Even if by some miracle that you do find yourself in FBS you'll still be beneath Marshall because you haven't done jack at this level. So please, just go away until you want to discuss CUSA sports. If you still feel the need to bloviate on this subject, take it to the expansion board; it’s where it belongs.

Bloviate! It appears someone has their Webster's handy. 04-rock Wipe the coal dust out of your eyes and take another look at the title of this thread. BTW, CUSA is 2-2 vs teams from the SoCon this year. Just sayin....

Time to take this thread to the Smack Board. We have a fan of a 1-aa team talking smack to a conference CUSA member. JMHO.

Here is the facts:

There are atlest 7-10 schools ahead of you before you even make the short list.

No one here cares what you have done at the IAA level (Sorry but we found this out too)

Your basketball team beat us, woopteedoo. Our coach was already packed with a ticket to Florida. And your coach at the time expressed intrest in our job. You wouldn't stay within 15 points of us this year.

I don't think you move up but if you do you will be playing FIU, FAU, MTSU, UNT and so on. That is if they invite you. Right now they have 9 football schools and 10 on the way. No reason to go to 11.

You may be in the Charlotte market, but no way you carry it, moot point.

LET THIS THREAD DIE

Until Charlotte wins a lot of games nobody will pay attention to them in football. It's taken them 3 years to sell 3,500 seats and most of those have been sold to businesses that they had to beg to buy them. There is only 1 team in Western North Carolina that has any following in football and that is App. Like Saint333 said UNCC fans can't join the conversation until they actually have a team on the field.

Thanks for the input. You need to get back to mopping the floor now.

Dont talk to the App people like your team (which is non existent) is better then them. Look you team has upside and possible consideration one day, but until you put anything, and i mean ANYTHING on the field don't talk like your school is a better choice right now.

It's not football smack, it's fan support smack and this guy thinks that folks coming to the convention center somehow represents whether there's interest in our program by what shirt they wear. First off it's the convention center. 80% of the events there aren't for locals, but out of town people. Second, its uptown. Niner grads wear suits and polos to work, not team gear. Third, as an engineer, I work with over 100 Niner grads along side State, Clemson, and other engineering school grads. None of us wear team gear to work except for the occasional team polo.

I work on the corner of Trade and Tryon, I see lots of folks walking around in other school's team gear and most of them don't work there and don't look like they have college degrees. If he doesn't see Niner logos on cars he's blind. There's at least 15 parked in the lot I park in everyday, and I see them everywhere I go in this city. I suggest someone who's school can't put 3000 people in their brand new 8000 seat Holmes Center, and who also can't get their own students and fans to come to important playoff games, should not throw school support stones.

I was tlkaing about public eventswhich draw locals on the weekends not trade shows for businessmen during the week. So my points are valid. I'm sorry that nobody cares about your commuter school in its own town.

You don't get to join unless you've had a film made about you...

Yes, so Marshall is the only REAL C-USA member in the conference. 03-lmfao

Look I realize we are FCS and you are FBS, but what I'm trying to point out is that outside of who we play we matchup very evenly with Marshall. Things like ticket sales , donations, and sponsorships at extrememly high for an FCS school. According to our study we are already better than the SB and MAC schools, and on par with several CUSA schools. If we had the chance to play at that level there is no question we would soon be in the upper half. You can make up excuses about what happened in basketball all you want, but your mighty Herd team should never have trouble beating a lowly SoCon team like App. Just so you know in our last 9 basketball games against CUSA we are 7-2 including a 2-1 record against your boys.

Since everyone seems to be tired of this thread I'll stop posting now. I'll check in on ya in a couple of months.

Hate to break it to you but the guy isn't an App fan he's an ECU fan, and he's right as silly as it is App is located in the Charlotte TV market. It doesn't make a bit of sense, but doesn't make it less true.

An ECU fan who joined in the past day and has two posts in this thread = App State fan

That is what the Marshall poster meant. I got my money on him being an App State fan as well.

Unless he is trolling for an ECU screen name he is a poster on our Rivals board and far from an App fan.

Quite possible. It is odd to see someone join and then post a long article supporting another school's claims. Especially when it seems like a lot of ECU fans are not in favor of adding Happy Appy.

Well im in favor of them joining. Im probably not speaking for all of the Pirate fans but we have not had a great IN-CONFERENCE to look forward to. The teams i look forward to are Va Tech, State and Carolina. We dont play State every year and i dont know the future on the Tech and Carolina partnership. If App State can play on our level i would look forward to that game EVERY SINGLE year.

The Southern Mississippi Ponies? Try SMU.

Houston has "Dude, Where's the Party?", starring Kal Penn.

I keep seeing the appstate alumni numbers, just wanted to point out those are registerd alumni numbers. If someone does not return the form or there is no address on file then they are not counted in the total. For example, I am not included because I have no registerd address with App but I do attend the games.
