Question about BE FB tv games
Do BE schools have a choice of whether or not to play on a certain day or time?
If espn wants a game played on a wed or thurs, can a school say no?

Sounds like there are some exceptions. I know that Pitt and WV have refused to play Friday night home games while regular season HS football is going on. But otherwise, ESPN owns the telecast rights and if they want a game, they move it.

RE: Question about BE FB tv games
High school games are played at Milan Puskar. So there's no way WVU will play a game in Morgantown on a Friday night. But matt's got the gist of it. ESPN can move any game they want for broadcast purposes, but the home school can nix the idea if they choose. WVU and Pitt will always say no to Fridays, and ESPN knows that by now...

That's not to say that this couldn't change in the future, if enough money were forthcoming. But it's long odds...

Morgantown-University (the Mohawk Bowl) has been the only high school football game played at Mountaineer Field (other than a few state title games in 80s), but they only played there from 1999-2007 (the first game drew 20,000) and I'm sure WVU would be able to bump any game anyways there.

RE: Question about BE FB tv games
Really? I didn't know University High quit playing there. What did they do, refurbish the old stadium by the high school?

There is still no way WVU will play a Friday night game in Morgantown. The only time the Mountaineers play on Fridays is when the other team bows to TV, like Marshall did last year. But there has NEVER been a Friday night game in Morgantown, and I seriously doubt that will change in the future...

RE: Question about BE FB tv games
Doesn't the BE contract require so many weeknight etc league games?
So if no home team wants a wednesday game, what happens?

They have little choice. It's part of the contract. Doesn't appear to be a big deal since ESPN and the Big East have had no problem making the schedule the last few years.

They built a new stadium by the new UHS in 2008. http://timeswv.com/bob_herzel/x681682907...-42-12-win
