Glad you think so highly of Villanova's power inside the BE. Assuming that's true, it would seem a rational business position for Villanova to take rather than fear of Temple - BE money and media exposure gives Villanova BB a competitive advantage over its local competitors, including Temple, in recruiting and TV money; wouldn't any rational business take all steps necessary to protect that competitive advantage. I am certain any graduate of the Fox School of Business at Temple casting an unjaundiced eye at that proposition would concur.

Additionally, your tale of Temple's BE woes set forth above still fails to address the bottom line issue for Temple potential membership in the BE - does it make more money for all the other BE members to add Temple for all sports? If Villanova does not upgrade, the BE may conclude Temple as a Philly market FB team adds value but for Temple to get its "golden ticket" that value would have to exceed the value brought by any other potential memeber(s) (UH, UCF, ECU, Memphis, et al.) and the concommitant decrease (or more accurately cannabilization) of BE BB's value in Philly, i.e., (i) BE already has Philly market value for TV with VU so adding TU is only an incremental increase; and (ii) now every other BE members would need to travel to Philly 2x/year or stay for half week to play VU and TU increasing travel costs. Until the result of that formula is a 7-figure additional payday to each BE member (on both FB and BB side) its unlikely the it would make financial sense for the BE.

So what you are really proposing is Temple's dream shot - BE terminates it relationship with VU via a FB-BB split or an expulsion, and TU joins as a full-member. As stated before, this can happen only if VU does not upgrade to FBS and BE FB-BB split or when the added value of Temple as an all sports member (i.e, additional money to each other BE member) substantially exceeds the value of the current BE status quo with Villanova as the BB member in Philly area (and potentially as the FB member in Philly).

While your post wasn't in response to any of my posts, I felt compelled to reply since it has so many inaccuracies in it.

They never met the attendance requirement while the facilities requirement was procured in the last year of the probationary period but would not be in place until several years after that. Still, the requirement wasn't to procure the facilities for some time in the future after the probationary period was over but rather to have them in place and be playing in it by the time the probationary period was over.

Of course, it's obvious Nova will apparently not be held to the same standard (should they decide to move up) so I'm sure this rightly rankles Owls' fans.

One of an institution's obligations to the conference it belongs to is to ensure their athletics programs are funded appropriately. It isn't to simply join and get $$$.

Actually, I believe Rutgers met the attendance requirement in all but one of the years Temple was on probation.
