Like many Americans - and probably folks all over the world - I was glued to the TV last night. 9/11 was a horrific event for so many, and last night was a cause for celebration.
A mass murderer who killed thousands of innocent people - fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters - - is brought to justice.
I couldn't be more proud of President Obama, his team, and the brave soldiers who carried out this daring raid. It is an important event in American history, one that will always be remembered. It will spawn a movie, for sure
I am equally disgusted by the zany conspiracy theories and negativity I've encountered various places on the web. From commenters on Free Republic who don't believe Bin Laden is dead, or think it was some kind of ploy by the President to help his poll numbers or put the "birther" issue on the backburner, etc, etc, etc. There are folks convincing themselves that the people who congregated in DC and NY last night were plants paid for by the Obama re-election campaign. The derangement has no end.
But that is always going to be the case. There will always be those who allow their political ideologies to cloud their judgment and take them down the path of absurdity (for instance, the 9/11 'truthers' who believe that the Bush administration was responsible for the tragedies of that day... and endless conspiracies about Obama).
Not even now, with a great victory for our nation, can these people allow themselves to be jubilant. They only fear that it will help Obama's re-election.
Those losers aside, it is a great day for our nation and for the fight against worldwide terror. Couldn't be more proud to be an American!
