Pakistan Bombing
See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13385597
Can this be a prelude to Pakistan repositioning itself as a more moderate and still needing U.S. money to support the efforts to root out the Taliband and Al Qaeda?
More importantly, will the U.S. continue to send $Billion$ to Pakistan?
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I think that Pakistan will offer just enough support in the war on terrorism to continue getting the dough. I almost think that Pakistan knew of the raid or knew it could/would happen at some time. They would need plausible deniability to show their people that the government is not controlled by the west, so they make a big scene on TV. Each side knowing that the thugs would eventually do something that would allow the status quo to remain in place.

The U.S. needs to start distancing itself from Pakistan. They are not allies. The U.S. needs to start forging stronger bonds with India. Pakistan has already provided the Chinese with U.S. technology with the stealth helicopter wreckage. Pakistan has clearly shown where their allegiance lies. We got Osama, the mastermind of 9/11. Let the Pakistani's ask China to help them clean up the Taliban. Afghanistan is no better. Karzai is no friend to the U.S. He is no different than the South Vietnamese leaders who only cared about extracting money from everyone in the 60s and 70s. Let both countries deal with the Taliban infestation. I think most of them would stay in their own sandbox if we get out of it.

I agree with sentences 1, 2 & 3, but we still need Pakistan at least until we get out of Afghanistan. They are our main route for supplies.
I agree on Karzai, too.
As for the Chinese, Bush and Obama have failed to utilize China in this endeavor. The Chinese hate the extremists and could easily use the issue of supporting the US in anti-terroism to resolve their Uyghur issue. Many Uyghurs have been trained by the Taliban and other terrist outfits.
As to staying in their own sandboxes, that hasn't happened over the last millenium+. Not sure that would change whether we remain of leave. I'm for leaving and coming back only if we have to.
