An incomplete week, with a couple of games yet to be played, but after the win by USF, how do we see things now?

1. WVU - It's theirs to keep until if/when they lose
2. USF - You have to pick them after they destroyed Louisville
3. UofL - any team can get beaten and they proved it
4. Tie - UCONN and Syracuse
5. Rutgers
6. UC - 2 close wins over not so great competition, but we did beat the first MAC team we played. Big game at Miami (OH) on Wednesday.
7. Pitt - I'm keeping you here this week by virtue of losing to Ohio, but congrats on the win and it should help you right the ship.

1) South Florida - If they beat Miami this weekend, they should be around #20.
2) Louisville - They will rebound this weekend and up their ranking.
3) West Virginia - If they upset Va Tech this weekend they too should be around #20.
4) UConn - UConn has proved to be much better than expected except against Georgia Tech which was expected.
5a) Rutgers - 2-1 and with any luck will exorcize demons #2 & 3 this week (after the Buffanova experience of 2002) and beat Pitt after two embarassingly last meetings and get a win after a bye week.
5b) Syracuse - 1-2 but they have proven to be tough and will get better as the season goes on.
7) Cincy 2-1 but against weak competition, talented team for sure but young they'll be much better next season.
8) Pitt - 1-3 not impressed when you only beat Youngstown State.

1. South Florida
- They whipped pre-season favorite UL and lost by 10 in a close game against undefeated Penn State. USF deserves to be #1 until they are beaten in the BE.

2. West Virginia
- Two good road wins against Syracuse and Maryland, but looked flat against East Carolina. We'll see if history can repeat itself. WVU thumped #3 VPI at home two years ago after a similarly lackluster game against Rutgers.

3. Louisville
- Still a league favorite, and maybe the USF game will be a blessing in disguise. Were they reading all the press clippings and forgot they actually have to play the games?

4. Connecticut
- Loss to Ga Tech doesn't look quite as respectable after the Jackets were utterly destroyed by VPI, but who knows - Tech could be a national championship caliber team. Still a question mark.

5. Syracuse
- Their tough defense is going to get them some wins, especially at home. Nice performance against UVA, but couldn't pull it out.

6. Rutgers
- Offensive firepower, but looked pretty sluggish against Buffalo, and near-miss against Illinois looks even worse in view of Michigan State's complete destruction of the Illini. Still, they should score enough points to win a few league games.

7. UC
- Young team that's 2-1, but could pull off some wins in the league. Could UC sneak into a bowl game?

8. Pittsburgh
- Only victory over 1-AA team, but things can't get any worse. This could easily be a 3-1 team right now had a few bounces gone their way, and they could still be a huge factor in the BE race. But until they win a 1-A game, they belong in last place.

1. USF - and you know why
2. WVU - depends on the VT game if they will pass da Bulls for #1 or move down to the middle of the pack
3. UConn - only game against a good team was against GT, if GT had Ball, I wonder if it would have been a blowout
4. UofL - we exposed every weakness of the Cards, can they recover for the rest of the season
5. Syracuse - if they can beat FSU, the BE race could be close, but a blowout against FSU may mean middle of the pack or bottom
6. Rutgers - have not beat a good team yet, not sure if they are good as they are on paper
7. Pitt - impressive win over an undefeated YSU team, looks like they could be back in the running
8 UC - 7-3 win over Western Carolina was not impressive, if they lose to Miami OH, this will be a bad year for the cats

1. WVU - two respectable road wins trumps one impressive win at home.
2. USF - Congrats on making a splash in the BE from day one.
3. UL - Kind of concerned that UK lull didn't wake them up for more than one game.
4. Syracuse - Enthusiasm quickly building.
5. UConn - Like USF, doing very well in a short time in the BE.
6-8. Rutgers, Pitt and ourselves will be sorted out a bit in the next two weeks.

Gotta go with:

1. USF......beat UofL and played Penn St (4-0) tough....until proven otherwise.

2. WVU.....lackluster vs ECU but otherwise..the most consistent BE team so far.

3. UofL....loss to USF crushing but doesn't change the fact that this is a good team and will have a great season when all said and done.

4. Cuse.....played UVA tough and has tough D which can win the close ones.....

5. UCONN.....have beaten the teams they are supposed to....loss to GTech now looks worse than before Gtech got their #$%$# handed to them by VTech.

6. Rutgers.....should be better than they are....season is still young...they could rise in this poll.

7. UC.....Young team with too many holes and not enough experience....2-1 but not a strong 2-1 and season only gets tougher. Key road game against rival Miami OH this week before starting BE play....could go into conf. 3-1 which might help toward a bowl game if they can steal a game here and there.

8. Pitt-awful......nuff' said.
