Yea that's what I don't get. Bit if you could entertain my question for a sec, what happened with WVU's defense? I mean did they really lose that much? A nose tackle and a couple of guys in the secondary but the defensive coordinator and the schemes are the same right?
It wasn't just the nose guard and a couple of guys in the secondary. Chris Neild and Scooter Berry composed 2/3 of the D-line, and either one outweighs any current player on the D-line. Plus, when you consider that Chris Neild is getting a lot of attention so far in D.C., he's a pretty big loss, since the 3-3-5 stack is built around the NG...

BTW, Julian Miller was the DE on that line, with Bruce Irvin came in for obvious passing situations, and the only LB that returned with any experience was Najee Goode. WVU is currently starting a freshman at MLB. So there are new pieces throughout the defense...

Good God. You're a Georgetown and USF fan. Your programs wrote the book on envy.

I look forward to you avoiding a response to this. Coward.

What's there to respond to? Whether GU/USF have displayed envy or not in the past is irrelevant.

WVU, Syracuse, and Pitt are still competing as Big East programs and will for some time to come. Their fans on this board deserve respect and it's juvenile to call their schools silly names.

Thank God there's an irrelevant pseudointellect like yourself to keep us all in line. Coward.

Ironically, that's what most of us Houston fans have said over on the CUSA boards, and we're still considered personae non gratae over there. Same with SMU fans as well as Central Florida fans. I'm not complaining about it though. Let them have their sour grapes as long as it's over there and not over here. (But that's another topic altogether.)

This is where recruiting is really important. In recruiting we often look at the first layer of signees but what really sets programs like Alabama and LSU apart is their depth. Was watching the wrap-up for that game the other night and Urban Meyer said what struck him the most about LSU was the "tall, angular athletes" on the defensive line, and that they seemed to have 7-8 of them. One would rotate out and another that looked just like him would come in. Very little dropoff from starters to second stringers.

Big East programs need to build up our recruiting to the point where we build that kind of depth, and restock it year after year.

Alabama and LSU are able to pick and choose among the best recruits out there, Steve. Not all programs have a recruiting bonanza like that, which is why Alabama and LSU are having such success at present...

Next time you want to make a reference, make one that applies equally to all... 03-banghead
