Memphis- Big East 2013
Just saw tweet from Brett McMurphy- Sources tell him that Memphis and Big East in final negiotiations for Memphis to join all sports in 2013.

That would make Big East 2013- and don't give me the crap about Louisville not in it...
1. Louisville
2. Cincinatti
3. Connecticut
4. Rutgers
5. So Florida
6. C Florida
7. Memphis
8. Houston
9. SMU
10. Boise St
11. San Diego St

It'll be interesting to see if they grab 1 more school for 2013 to get the title game regardless of Pitt/Syracuse.

I guess Big East likely now plays 2012 with 7, unless they have something else up their sleeve(Temple?)

That won't be a problem if we are actually in the BE. It'll make the SEC happy, thats for sure.

How much is Fred(Ex) Smith paying the Big East for this? Long term Memphis is a very solid addition but in the short term for football not so much. However, congrats to the Tigers!

Hopefully Air Force will be #12 in 2013 and then BYU or Fresno St. join in 2015 when Navy comes aboard. Temple and ECU waiting in the wings in case we lose a team or two. A strong conference that will survive.

Football isnt as far off as you would think. Getting a bowl bid in 2012 isn't out of the question.

Metro Conference represent! Which would be the only logical name for the Big East at this point. Well, that or the Markets Conference.

Poor poor Temple.

ESPN was totally scooped by this. If they had known sooner, they might have told John Swofford to call Memphis and offer them an ACC bid... 05-stirthepot

About as much as any other booster at high major D1 schools. 03-wink

I think everyone will be surprised with Fuente in a year or two. In thirty days he did a jam up job recruiting. And, when it's announced as a finality that we're in, that makes recruiting these good Memphis goods that get away every year to SEC schools, that much easier.
