The Talented Mr. Tarrant!!!
Green Wave Nation. Good morning. I hope all is well with you. I was in attendance last night at Bartow Arena for the basketball game between Tulane and UAB. There is a young man on the Green Wave roster, a freshman named Ricky Tarrant (#2).

When the PA announcer started rattling off the names of the starters, and had mentioned where Mr. Tarrant was from (which is about 10 minutes northwest of UAB),I was aghast, as were several in the seating section we were in.

After the absolutely dazzling performance this young man put on against our Blazers, needless to say, I was bewildered as to how this obviously gifted player got away from us here at UAB, of course, my compadres at the Blazertalk site enlightened me as only they could.

Anyway, the game was by far one of the most entertaining conference matchups I've seen all year, & Mr. Tarrant's play last night was a big reason why this was the case. Great turnout/attendance was on hand as well, surprising to me, given the torrential weather conditions for the entire day, which usually discourages many from coming out, this was not the case yesterday, and I got a kick out of the strong contingent of Tulane fans that showed up, they took up pretty much an entire section by themselves and made a great deal of noise thruout the game. Mr. Tarrant got a well-deserved standing ovation from the majority of the fans on hand when he fouled out of the game with under a minute to go & UAB nursing a slender lead. Tulane's full-court press was stifling and very effective, to say the least.

Anyway, I'll be shocked if Ricky Tarrant isn't awarded "Conference USA Freshman Of The Year" in basketball if the show he put on at Bartow Arena is indicative of how he's played all season. IMO, Tulane's a far better team than their record indicates, & whoever has to face them in the first round of the C-USA tournament in Memphis next month better have their act together and have an answer for #2.

I am a huge fan of Conference USA, and enjoy seeing all of its' athletic programs grow and expand to become competitive and successful, Tulane appears to be doing just that in many regards.

You definitely have a bright future in basketball if players the caliber of Ricky Tarrant are representing your school. He made quite a first impression here... Good luck the rest of the way and in the future.
