Well it is Pitt vs. Utah in the Fiesta Bowl. The BCS site has the wrong matchup.

Looks like Mack Browqn whined enough and got the Whorns into a BCS game.
Cal would beat them easy since they have 2 major weapons pass and rush, while the LongWhorns are very one-dimensional with only Benson.

hmmm....Guess Topstoog was wrong again. not that its the first time or anything. Lets add this to the long list of predictions......
1. Louisville and Cincinnati will never get a Big East invite....
2. The Big East will lose the Automatic BCS birth.....
3. The Big East Champion will always be paired against the Non-BCS team that the BCS is forced to take......
I am sure there are many more nuggets of truth that Topstoog has shared and ALL have proved to be incorrect. I'm just to busy laughing at him to list them. I wouldn't look for Topstoog to crawl out from his CUSA rock anytime soon.

Jackson, as you now know top Coog was correct about the Fiesta Bowl. The theory is why screw up the ratings of two bowls when you can limit the damage to one. Neither of those teams is a draw.

Uh, Top Coog it was reported on ESPN the Rose Bowl was getting ready to pick Utah instead of Texas but changed their mind at the last minute.

For future references this is how the BCS Bowls pick the teams, it was explained yesterday and blows your scenario out of the window.

The Top 2 teams go to the BCS Title Game which this years is the Orange Bowl.

If a Bowl is losing the number 1 team-(ie the Rose with USC) they get the first pick. They choose Texas over Utah. They have an automatic tie in with the Big 10 so that Bowl is set with a Michigan-Texas matchup.

The Bowl with the number 2 team-(ie the Fiesta with Oklahoma) gets the second pick and they choose Utah.

The Sugar as a automatic tie in with the SEC and they already have Auburn. They had the 3rd pick and they choose Virginia Tech. So that Bowl is set with a Auburn-Virginia Tech matchup.

The Fiesta Bowl took Pittsburgh and everything is now set. But the Pitt-Utah game was not a set in stone matchup that you made up until late Sunday afternoon. If Auburn was the number 2 team more then likely you would have had a Virginia Tech-Pittsburgh Sugar Bowl and a Utah-Michigan Rose Bowl.

BCS Bowl Tie Ins:

Rose Bowl-Big 10 and Pac 10
Fiesta Bowl-Big 12
Orange Bowl-ACC
Sugar Bowl-SEC

In most years if the ACC Champ and Big East Champ are not playing for the BCS Title and if neither are in the Top 2 you will likely have the traditional Orange Bowl Matchup of Big East vs. ACC. It has been like that for the past few years.

Maize...you can spin all you want but the facts remain that Utah and Pitt are in the Fiesta Bowl....facts are facts and my prediction is correct.
If the NBE has a BCS auto bid next year they will be in the piggy back game vs the non BCS team. That piggy back game was created to limit the damage caused by losing the political battle to Dr. Cowan. The only people who really get screwed in the deal is utah who lose a chance to prove themselves vs a big time opponet.

I just broke it down for you. You can take it or leave it. No spin just what ESPN reported on how the Bowl game matchups were set.

As far as the Piggyback Bowl you will have to get a non BCS team in the Top 12 first. It will not happen every year. If Auburn was Number 2 and Oklahoma was number 3 then you would not have a Utah-Pitt matchup. It is as simple as that.

BTW the Big East and every other BCS Conference will have an automatic bid through 2007. Give up that pipe dream as well. Remember the Big East does have a school it can count in the Top 10 with Louisville.
