Yikes!
You will not find me in any of these pictures. Not just because I don't live in Russia.

So this guy says, "Hey look how high that is. Wonder what a photo from there looks like?" And some time later we have a picture? Yeah, you're on your own there. The shots are incredible though.

I hate heights. My stomach lurched just looking at some of those photos. One rogue gust of wind and he could have already been dead.

Those images are sharp, and this guy has no fear of heights. He must be part Navaho...

Agreed, especially the bridge shot at the top of the page (also listed as #25).

I'm sure he was using a safety harness, just like those in his photos...

RE: Yikes!
If you ever go to the New River Gorge Bridge near Fayetteville, WV on US19, you should walk the catwalk under the bridge. There's a safety cable for the timid. But it's all open air between you and the New River, 850 feet below. The bridge really bounces when trucks travel over it too. But if you want the best view of New River Gorge, you can't beat it, unless you're there to base jump on Bridge Day (2nd Saturday in October)...

Went rafting under it last year. Gorgeous place.

That said, I'd gladly be wherever that guy was snapping pics from. Amazing views.

That image was taken from the New River Gorge Bridge overlook, on the Gorge rimwall. But all you can see from that vantage is the bridge. You can't really see the gorge itself...

Ah. I wouldn't mind it myself. I've seen a lot of similar views though. I worked on skyscrapers under construction. Once you get up high enough, everything looks like a tinker toy...

SIL lives about two miles from the bridge. She worked on the river for years and worked many a jump day. She was there the day the guys chute did not open. Said it was the sickest thing she had ever seen. She said there are way to many companies doing the river now.

RE: Yikes!
I have an abject fear of heights. I cannot deal with them. If any of you went to the top of the World Trade Centers before the went down, you can relate. You could walk down a couple of steps and be at the edge of the building looking out a floor to ceiling window. I about **** my pants.

I jumped on the first 4 Bridge Days. I remember one guy's chute starting to open as he hit the river. He was a red stain, floating down river, and I was 2nd in the jump line. I had a lot of time for reflection, that took almost no time at all...
