Every team moved up hurts all non aq teams to a small extent. I'm not the only one who notices that ECU fans look at teams with the intention of keeping them down with politics. Instead of just staying ahead of them by beating them.

Problem is (for ECU fans), as soon as you bring them into the conference, you're not ahead of them--you're equal to them. So if ECU sign off on, say, bringing Charlotte up from FCS, they're expecting that in the next round of realignment, Charlotte will be on the same level as ECU competitively--assuming neither school wins 10 games a year for 5 years--backed up by a much bigger TV market.

(Some) ECU fans are bitter that UCF and USF passed them like they were standing still. So they don't want to help Charlotte and Georgia State become "the next South Florida."

Removing all emotion...is it not true? I highly doubt you could say it wasn't.

You ECU folk are really hard to agree with. Are you just not used to it?

Well, it isn't exactly easy to tell when someone is serious or sarcastic with just the written word...especially when your school is attacked constantly by some of the less knowledgeable people on this board. Not saying you are one of those...but hopefully you get my drift.

...

Controlling? We (ECU) have vote share in league matters.

The CUSA Eastern Division has been the hardest hit by the BE TWICE!

ECU, Marshall, and USM are the cream of the crop in that division now that UCF is gone thus we are 3/_ voting block and we would all like a few more eastern schools in CUSA.

What sucks is, most of the "good candidates" are west of us. The Eastern side has been raided by the BE. The MAC, which would offer the next best teams is now down to a stable core. I'm sure MWC fans would want more western schools for their own sake... it just makes sense.

What gets me is somebody else (other than an ECU fan) starts alot of these kinds of threads (just like this one) and makes sure they put "ECU" somewhere in the title just setting the bait. That's an invitation to these types of exchanges when someone singles out a particular school or schools and then wonders why the fans of those schools get irritated and feel inclined to relentlessly defend their positions/opinions.

Why in the world would any MAC team leave a 65 year old stable and growing conference for the indecisive mess that is the "Alliance"??

Marshall was a short-timer in the MAC that thought the grass was greener on the other side and then made a mistake.

How has CUSA helped Marshall? It hasn't at all. Their attendance is no better than their MAC days, their facilities have not improved and are worse than most MAC schools, their athletic budget hasn't improved, they struggle to win, and they are on TV much less. Their fans (and ECU's) routinely grumble about travel. Marshall screwed up but won't swallow their pride and admit it. Who is their main rival? A MAC school (OHIO)

And I'm getting tired of the unjustified arrogance of some ECU fans and their constant whining that they think they "deserve" a Big East invite and think they are the big fish left in the non-aq pond. Besides some otherwise impressive attendance numbers, what exactly has ECU done? You won two CUSA championships 4 years ago and beat Virginia Tech and a Big East champion and a few other BCS teams ever so often? Big deal! NIU, Toledo, Miami and others in the MAC have better resumes. Toledo beat Penn State and Michigan, NIU beat Alabama, Miami beat Virgiania Tech and the Rose Bowl bound Big Ten Champs. Has ECU ever finished in the Top 12 in the final AP Ranking? NIU and Miami have.

ECU and Marshall should come to terms and join the MAC East not the other way around. The MAC is weathering conference realignment quite nicely.

Old Dominion and JMU will make great additions in your absense.
.

Marshall does belong in the MAC. Anyone outside of Huntington, and even most of them, knows that. The Joan may hold 38K, but outside of WVU coming to town, it never does.

We played them last game of this past season and I was there and that stadium was basically packed. Marshall might be a natural fit, but it doesn't mean they belong or want to be there. Kinda like West VA in the BE. 05-stirthepot

That game drew over 22K fans:

The 2010 WVU-Marshall game in Huntington drew over 41K:

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=302530276

I'm willing to bet that a majority of those 41K fans were WVU fans.

You are an idiot. WVU may have had 10K there if that. Anyone that was at that game clearly knows MU had the vast majority of fans. We had their asses kicked all night but a fumble cost us. We were driving and fumbled on their 5 yard line. All we have to do is kick a field goal and game over.
But I digress, Marshall is just fine. I liked the MAC but don't want to go back. I like CUSA much better. As for WVU, you got more money in the B12 but you just shot your wad for a BCS or national bowl of any significance. WVU will never come close to winning the B12, hell you couldn't win the BE out right.03-lmfao

It was intense in the 90's and I still remember Chad Pennington and Randy Moss rolling into Oxford (and Miami beating them by 3+ TDs :-) ). Marshall was good for the MAC while they were in and I respect their program.

Guess I don't get out much but wish I had seen this earlier. Got a good laugh from your posts. Marshall to the mac was not an option. You talk about our attendance being better if we were in the mac. I saw Toledo and Ohio bring some fans but the other mac scools brought no more than 30 on average. Heck, Miami had a homecoming game attended by Big Ben Copafeelsburger and you guys barely had over 8,000 in attendance. Must be because you didn't have lights and did have wooden bleachers. (Do you still have those?)
You guys did hand it to Chad and company in the regular season that year...the same year we won the East and were the conference champs. Played Mississippi in a bowl that year. Miami stayed home. The next year you were 10-1, with the lone loss to Marshall. We finished 12-1 again won the East and the conference championship and beat Louisville in a bowl. Beat you the next year at your place by 18, won the East and the championship and beat BYU in a bowl. Not excited at all about playing Miami. I am a little worried your coaching staff will tear up our press box again and another of your coaches may assault our fans and have to be taken off in handcuffs, ala John Wauford.
