Just pay a total of $10-million for staying two years, but not staying the entire 3 required... WVU is paying $20-million for staying only one and leaving before the required 3 years. I'm sure the Big East is more than game, considering all the additions!

Good for Pitt. Wouldn't have made sense playing two whole lame-duck seasons before moving.

Forget that... TRY TO GET OUT OF PAYING THE OTHER $2.5 MIL! The Big East absolutely hosed Pitt & Syracuse by the way they handled the WVU thing. Had they accepted the $20 million early and given each of the remaining teams (including Pitt & 'Cuse) a share so they could schedule a decent replacement... but instead they added insult to injury. Pitt has a case, IMO. (No idea if they will win).

Growing up my favorite game was watching Danny Ford's Tigers pound on some SC chicken meat... but my second favorite game was probably the battle of the big cats in PA (I didn't ever know there was a college in Blacksburg, VA in those days).

I also have fond memories of Dan Marino burning the blitz to win Sugar Bowl against that disgusting team from Athens, GA.

I'm not sure if the 'we will not pay more than the $5 million exit fee' stance and filling a lawsuit go hand in hand. Clearly Pitt is willing to give up some thing since they're filling to bring the BE to the negotiating table just like WVU did. I'd say even if it was $10 million, go ahead and pay it. The difference will be made up that year in TV revenues.

I look forward to Pitt playing in the ACC in 2013-14. This 27 month wait thing was a farce from the beginning. It's turned into what they expected it to be. A way to get even more money from exiting schools over the exit fee.

Glad to see they're not waiting. Let's get this over with and have both teams guaranteed in by 2013 as soon as possible.

I agree. This will expedite the negations via mediation. I don't mind paying 10M to get out a year early.

And for the record Pederson has said we aren't willing to pay anything extra (than the $5 million) but we all know he's lying through his teeth on that. I fully expect we'll have to break out the checkbook at least a little to get what we want.
