James Madison: Where Do You Think They End Up?
The MAC, CUSA, or SBC?

CUSA would be the best option for JMU, especially if ODU does makes the jump. CUSA has stated that they could go to 16. Could number 15 and 16 be JMU and MTSU? In the mid-Atlantic region you would have Marshall, JMU, ODU, ECU, Charlotte, and just outside MTSU. All within driving distance.

SBC if it does add AppSt and NMSU, would be another conference that I think JMU could live with, given the rivalry it has with AppST.

The MAC would be a good fit and the conference has some good schools within it. The problem, JMU would probably have to go in it alone. I seriously doubt UD would make the jump. However, JMU does have a history playing UMASS.

On the market thing, JMU does deliver DC, if it didn't does anyone think that Dan Snyder would approve of a JMU/WVU game at FedEx if it didn't think JMU could deliver its side of the field?

What do all of you think?

The WVU-JMU game at FedEx Field will go a long way toward proving what kind of fanbase JMU has...

Is 25k avg attendance not convincing enough? We only trail Appalachian State as 2nd best attendance in FCS and we would be ranked 84th in the nation if we are compared to FBS programs.
JMU does need to show up to Fed Ex though.

I think JMU fans put too much emphasis on wanting to ride the coat-tails of whatever Appalachian State or Old Dominion are doing. I don't think it will take long for any FCS team moving up to FBS to make new rivalries fast and forget about their FCS days.

I do agree with this, but what JMU fans have is what they know they have now. I personally think Miami (OH) and Ohio would be fun rivalries to have.

As a Liberty fan I wish you guys the best. I do hope something works out where we can play you guys regularly. I know Mickey is on record that saying that we are getting too good and he rather not play us any more. Nice!

As far as where JMU fits, it will be fun to watch play out. Have they formally announced their intention to move up?

JMU has said nothing of any substance. We have a reputation of being slow and conservative and that is the worst combination right now in this conference climate. Everyone and their mother is hoping that something is going on behind the scenes or the castle is about to get stormed.

Interesting. Looks like our FBS study may be done and may be released very soon. Again, I'd love to keep playing JMU going forward.

Bourne stated he is working on it just this weekend via email. He is, and I think it is evident by ODU, VCU, and Mason all waiting around to see what JMU does. Doesn't JMU have a board meeting tomorrow? I think JMU and all CAA fans find out this week how this all plays out. I highly doubt JMU goes to the Sun Belt though.

Selig, a DNR reporter that focuses on JMU sports alot, just tweeted earlier that the Tuesday, non-routine BOV meeting was to go over tuition and fees for the 2012-2013 academic year or something like that. At least that's what he was told when he asked. I hope they point blank lied to him. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the truth....

RE: James Madison: Where Do You Think They End Up?
Yes, and I do think we find out this week what JMU's intentions are.

From my understanding, and from those who have been following JMU a lot longer than I have, have all stated that when the first 10 year ban went in, JMU set a goal that it would be FBS once that 10 year ban was up. Before last season, Bourne, referring to an east coast conference, stated that he could see JMU being FBS in 18-24 months. This past week, he did send out an email stating that he takes conference realignment seriously and that they are working on it. While at the same time stating he hopes VCU, GMU, and ODU stay in the CAA. I think what Mr. Bourne is hoping for is the best of two worlds. Maintaining the CAA basketball league, while being a FBS member somewhere else. I don't see that happening and JMU is going to have to move all sports if it truly wants FBS-and it does, just look at the stadium and the approved 88 million to build a new convo for basketball. JMU has been doing all of these upgrades preparing for a move. Even FedEx, I think is part of the plan to market JMU to FBS leagues, saying look we can deliver Washington, DC.

If the MAC would add JMU, Delaware, and Stony Brook to UMass and Buffalo, that combination would almost reflect CUSA's footprint but in the north. With that group, the MAC could eventually threaten the MWC as CUSA's "partner", at least from a TV standpoint.

Granted, talk of Stony Brook is premature, but JMU needs Delaware, and Delaware need UMass and a NYC presence to help make the MAC fit.

Delaware won't move, but then again, maybe they will be forced to.

RE: James Madison: Where Do You Think They End Up?
I think Delaware is getting more serious now that the ODU to CUSA rumor has grown so strong. They realize the CAA isn't going to last. JMU needs to move fast or UD will be more desirable because of their near Philly market. They'll get picked first by any conference once UD announces their intent to move on.

Some fans are saying that we should read between the lines with that "tuition and fees" topic at the BOV meeting. What are they talking about tuition for? Because tuition and fees may be getting raised as the program becomes I-A. haha I hope it's true.

I agree with you on the SBC. But I do think there is a chance for CUSA. You cannot tell me that ODU isn't trying to get JMU to be a part. Also, CUSA did approach JMU, UD and ODU at the final four earlier this year. MAC is probably the best possibility.

Marshall is pulling for JMU I think.

They probably have to discuss how much they have to raise the fees to fund your FBS transition. LOL.

If this end's up the final resting place for ECU, I bet they pull hard in the future for JMU, UD and ODU.
