Another statement from the FSU President. Some good points.

Yes conferences are for athletics but academics should play some role here. These kids are still student athletes. It is what it is.

Yeah...ask UNC about their academics for football players? 04-rock

I found this the most interesting

Quote:2. Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas A&M left the Big 12, at least in part because the Big 12 is not an equal share conference. Texas has considerably more resource avenues and gains a larger share (and I say this as a former dean of the University of Texas at Austin -- I watched the Big 12 disintegration with interest). So, when fans realize that Texas would get more dollars than FSU, always having a competitive advantage, it would be interesting to see the fan reaction.

Yes, that's the contradictions of epic proportions there.

But I still think this won't happen.

I can imagine. GT would be a long way from it's conference mates if FSU and Clemson left. Plus the GT/Clemson rivalry is strong.

Me on the other hand, would not want to lose Miami. They are the only ACC school that moves the ratings, they recruit well, have a huge national fan base and finally have a good coach. All it takes is one 0 or 1 loss year from the Hurricanes and you'll see people wearing Miami gear all over the country. It'd be almost like if Notre Dame went 0 or 1 loss.

FSU actually gets better ratings than Miami. They are routinely put at 2nd or 3rd in national ratings and definitely bring a national name to any conference.
