Associated Press. But the estimates are all over the place. I saw as low as 4,000.

Well it was obvious when it started raining it would get canceled. So we moved our tailgate to a friend's apartment and didn't go to the game to see it canceled in person. I think a lot of people did. There were a good amount of people tailgating early though. I don't think it is a number you can compare to anything.

I can vouch for the 15,000 number - it was addressed in an article on ESPN's ACC Blog. Apparently someone first quoted actual turnstile numbers - only 4,000 or so actually entered the stadium before being told to go home - but the Richmond Times-Dispatch as well as the Associated Press both reported that about 15,000 were there to attend the game (they just never got inside).
P.S. I've erased both Maryland and BC because even little Wake Forest brought 5,500 and if you can't do better than that you don't deserve to be mentioned.

What? Does Duke not practice in the Spring? No wonder they suck. You also forgot Pitt and Cuse.

200 wow...
Pitt's was in the 4-5K range. And we played in a HS Stadium.

I've seen estimates of 40k for the 2011 game for VT

Pitt can only dream of having 40K for a spring game. I prefer to have a sell out crowd as well, but not gonna happen.

Boy, did BC hit rock bottom. A few years ago they were ranked #2 in the nation. Hard to believe.

Attendance for ACC spring games
BC had more than 200 at the game. I was there and there were at least 1,000 people there. The game was held very early - late March - and the weather was not great.
I believe that 200 number originally came from a blog where the writer mentioned it in a condescending way. Like everything else on these boards, the number was picked up and run with, especially by those with an axe to grind against BC.
BC has never released attendance numbers for a spring game.

Thanks for clearing this up, Eagle78. Something similar happened with Va Tech - 4,000 was reported, when in fact there were 15,000. I think the folks who want to defame ACC football are legion right now.

RE: Attendance for ACC spring games
Considering this year was the first year that Wake held an actual spring football game at the stadium (in the past it had just been a casual scrimmage at the practice field on campus), I think the 5,500 figure is good, especially since many out-of-town season ticket holders & fans such as myself did not make the trek to campus.

Cuse had close to 5000...nothing great but CNY traditionally doesn't come out for the spring game.

I've been using the excuse that it was the weather...

Duke doesn't publish figures.

1,000 is still, in Top Gear speak, ambitious but rubbish.

4k more than what Duke averaged last season, yet they get the same share of football revenue as us.

A little sad to see Wake and BC so low... For comparison, SBC schools MTSU - we had a 2-10 season last year - (4,200) and Arkansas State - had 10 win season - (6,000) had crowds around that range... 10k for Miami isn't awful but I'd like to see that higher...

Yeah but those schools will get 30-44k paying fans on Saturday.
