FIU vs UCF 2012
Just curious as to what the UCF fans think about the upcoming game in Sept at this point.

Worried that we wont win it. We were supposed to win the first go around and we all know that turned up.

We're at home. We need to sell it out.

We need people bouncing EVERYWHERE.

I think if the crowd is on our side, we'll blow them out.

Blow out - that is bold, but hey you have to root for the home team. Looking forward to the game now.

I think he says blowout because UCF was pretty pissed about losing this game. The team clearly overlooked FIU and consequently played abysmally. I think that there are fans that want blood because of it. Should have seen the rivals board about it.

As an FIU fan, I am concerned about this away game. Clearly a blow-out is more than possible on any given game day, but why do you expect to blow away FIU? No hostilities here, just curious. I admit I am not too familiar with UCF apart from a few south Florida guys. I'm thinking that you guys may not be too familiar with FIU's team as well. By the way, I believe that UCF should be well favored in this match-up (home advantage, talent, more time playing football, etc), but blow-out?

depends on if we break your spirit or not. That's usually how blowouts work. 05-stirthepot

But seriously. Last year we had your number, and that was t.y. Hilton, who was covered by our equally talented courner back josh robinson, except for those inexperience fu@k ups on special teams. It should be interesting this year because both those players are gone now.

Like Kruciff mentioned, our biggest mistakes happened on special teams. A facet of the game that, for the most part, should not play a significant factor in a decision, actually did against FIU.

FIU punched us in the teeth last year. They got hyped up and took it to us. We're awake now.

Well my original question was "why a blow out this year"? I agree that both teams are going to be different. I don't know if FIU will have a fantastic season or even a down year. For all I know we could lose every game by 50. However, FIU can also go undefeated. FIU returns the entire defense (10 of 11). They return the entire offensive line. We lose a QB, RB, TE (2x), and, of course TY. But, my point is that what would make an objective UCF fan think this game will be a blow-out other than "fan love and hope." Its not like FIU doesn't have talent either. Our coach is pretty good too. So what's up?

RE: FIU vs UCF 2012
I think predicting that UCF will blow out FIU is crazy (although it could happen). I do expect us to win, however. Our team overall will be more experienced. We've added size to the receiving corps and gotten a big boost at the tailback position by adding Storm Johnson. The offensive line is going to be much better; I don't think you'll see FIU's blitzes having as much effect on our offense as they did in last year's game. Blake Bortles was more effective than Jeff Godfrey last season and will likely be our starter unless Missouri transfer Tyler Gabbert (a former 4-star prospect and brother of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert) passes him up. Godfrey, by the way, is going to be a backup wide receiver for us, although I could see him at quarterback when we use our "Wild Knight" formation. Should be a heck of a game.

Godfrey, I imagine, will be playing the wide-out position, with him taking many of the sweep plays that quincy currently plays. Essentially, there will be a 4 to 5 way rushing attack: sweep with Godfrey, sweep with McDuffie, Storm, Latavius, and QB option.

RE: FIU vs UCF 2012
FIU fans,

I think the reason you're hearing disrespect in some of the posts of UCF fans (on this forum and others) is not because we disrespect your program. The opposite is true. Many UCF fans are very impressed with how quickly Cristobal has built your program and know that your team has many more signature wins than ours did when we were at that point.

The reason UCF fans are so bitter about losing to you and expecting revenge and a possible blowout is because we remember what it was like to be at certain stages in the program. Most UCF fans see FIU as being in the same stage where we were, when we could grab plenty of the Florida skill players around and but we had trouble getting our roster two or three deep at every position.

We're still in the process of getting a team where the backups have talented backups, but we remember vividly the days we could play BCS teams well for 3 quarters and then collapse. When we see FIU grabbing wins over Louisville and us and then finishing fourth in the Sun Belt, it shows us that your program is still at that stage of little depth, but your coach is able to capitalize on your players "playing up" in big games.

So please don't think UCF fans disrespect your program. We are just looking at you and seeing an old version of us and we're confident that we're a much better team than we used to be. Simultaneously, we're jealous that you're moving faster through the stages of program development than we did, with far less of the devastating, big-name-team-drives-95-yards-in-the-4th losses that we have endured far too many times as fans.

Personally, I hope that FIU does well in their program. I have been to the FIU campus many times and I think highly of the school. Also, FIU is not a huge recruiting threat to UCF. Y'all are going to steal the stay at home SFla guys from Miami and move away from home Orlando guys from USF. Good luck in the future, but, yeah, I'm thinking our guys feel embarrassed and blame FIU and arrogance for derailing the entire season last year so a blowout wouldn't surprise me.

I take it you think that UCF should have blown away FIU last year but for special teams play? Here, I cannot agree with you. While I will concede that UCF has superior depth and better talent overall, I think that many of you were flat-out wrong about the type of team FIU had last year. Consequently, some of you still sound like you don't respect FIU at all. I hope this attitude continues because it may also be reflective of your football team's attitude toward FIU. This would be good.

Again, no hostilities on my part as I do strongly believe that UCF should be favored in this game. As stated above by me, I concede UCF is overall better than FIU at this point in time. But, if you believe that UCF should have blown out FIU last year (or this year) then you have no clue as to what FIU has done in the last few years under Coach Cristobal. Simply put, the man can recruit, and better yet he can motivate. If our new OC is any good, we can have a spectacular year. If he stinks, then we may get blown out a few times. And not just by UCF!

I am disappointed in the UCF fans in this thread. As members of the BE we have a God given right to be douche bags to schools of lesser conferences in FL. You all are not living up to expectations.

I'm curious what type of response you are looking for here. Where do you see FIU finishing at the end of this year? If FIU were in the ACC or nBE, or CUSA this past year, how would you expect them to do (top tier, middle of the pack, bottom feeder)?

I expect 7 wins more or less (6 on the down side with 9 as the top). Losses to UCF, Louisville, Lousiana and Ark. State would not surprise me as these teams will be favored over us. We can lose to Duke again. Obviously, if FIU were in the ACC last year (you mentioned last year) we would have won two or three games and could have one win in ACC. In CUSA last year our record would have been about the same as in the Sun Belt last year. We did play Marshall tight even though our offense wasn't clicking. Lost in the 4th. You forget we also played Texas A & M and Rutgers well in 2010 (losing to A & M in the late 4th). We didn't really get blown out by anyone last year. Our worst loss in 2011 was against Arky State and lost a close one to Duke. Check it out.

I guess more than anything, I was shocked by some of your fans' opinions that FIU is an easy "blow out." No objectivity whatsover. Little football knowledge or instincts. Just "homerism." And again, I have been careful to point out that UCF is ahead of FIU at this point in time. And understand that some football preview magazines think highly of UCF this year, but still UCF is not likely to do well in the ACC or a higher conference either. I still see UCF as a mid-major team (high mid major ranking if you will). Sorry if this offends, but you still need to catch up to USF in most peoples minds. Which brings me back to my original point: Blow out? Really??? Can't you all just say we should beat FIU in 2012. Now that I can live with, and cannot be argued logically. Have enjoyed the banter.

RE: FIU vs UCF 2012
I think only a few people have mentioned blowouts but the majority of us have said and feel we want the win. UCF has the potential to be big. I think eventually it'll happen once we develop a winning culture. We didn't expect a blow out last year but we did expect a win. Cristobal has really brought up the culture there. We're still waiting for our winning coach.
