After a thrilling win in the series finale against the Reds and a day off the Pirates travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. Miller Park has been an absolute graveyard for Pirates teams since 2007 or so. I believe our record there is something like 4-38 in that stretch. Ouch.
There's good and bad news about this series. I'll start with the bad, I suppose:
1. We have to play the Brewers.
2. We have to play at Miller Park.
3. We almost never win at Miller Park.
4. Ryan Braun still plays for the Brewers.
5. Ryan Braun > Pirates nearly 24/7/365.
6. Kevin Correia is starting tonight.
7. See 6, repeat.
The good?
1. Prince Fielder is gone. He can now only brutalize us with a stare from Detroit. That still hurts. Probably one of the balls he hit off a Pirates pitcher over the last 5 years is still hanging in orbit somewhere. If it would fall on Correia's head and suddenly turn him into a MLB level starting pitcher that would be awesome. Doubtful, but awesome.
2. We avoid Grienke. This is obviously always good.
3. Our pitching matchups are actually pretty good. We'll be running Bedard and McDonald out this series. Both have been very good to excellent with the Pirates this year.
The action is set to start at 8:10 p.m. because Milwaukee is in CST.
