RE: SEC puts up a UK bill-board in Louisville near PJCS!
As far as UofL goes, I also noticed last year when I was in town, that on the street right there with the KFC YUM center and the Louisville Slugger factory, there is a very prominent UK team store that has one of the blue glass/painted UK logoed up horses on the sidewalk in front of the store. I could hardly believe that they let that store be there. It was right beside the UofL arena for goodness sake.

Another good story about the UofL-UK rivalry, was (at the time I was living in Richmond and working in Lexington) when UK was adding all those endzone skysuites to Commonwealth Stadium, and the construction company that was doing it was either from Louisville or the guy running the crane was a fan, but the big-ass tall crane that was hovering over the stadium had a UofL Cardinals flag flying on it. It was hilarious. It made the front page of the Herald-Leader and they made them take it down because students were trying to scale up the crane to take it down.

Fun stuff rivalries are.

Another couple Marshall-WVU moments were one year when we played them in Morgantown, the Mountaineer statue outside the Mountainlair was wearing a Herd shirt around his neck for a while, and a couple years back the night before the game in Huntington, some WVU fan (I'm assuming) went up to the Marshall South Charleston Campus and ripped the some metal letters off of the big "MARSHALL UNIVERSITY" sign.

No they don't.

I wish we could draw 50,000+ on average.

That said, there's no way that game in the photo (in the link) had a crowd over 25,000 unless no one sits between the 30s in Lexington.

I don't know when that photo was taken. UK's "low-end" or core attendance level of fans that will show up for anything is certainly greater than most in the Big East.

It is incorrect though for anyone to claim they always pack it in. They had actual attendance in the upper 30's and lower 40's for multiple home games late in the year this past season.

OK pack it in is strong, but for as many losses as they have endured over the years, they do well at the gate. Most programs, including the UoL would not do nearly as well if the losses stacked up like theirs. The only other program I can think of that has similar support even after years of losing is USC - the one in the Carolinas.

Fair enough I guess. I used to be impressed when they sucked and still drew in the 50's. Recently though as I said they have games with 38-42k. That is far less impressive.

Here's a pic for the hilarious UK fans who try to claim that the football game against UofL doesn't matter, and that their true rivals are Florida and Tenn from the SEC. This "Beat Louisville" wall is part of UK's training facility:
