DONE DEAL!

The only way to find out for sure is to wait until Tuesday at 4pm and see if anything happens...

In fairness to the Dude, I don't believe he said the "Tuesday at 4 pm" part, just the "done deal" and he's backed off from that already later in the day.

The "Tuesday at 4 pm" part is from the WVU Scout Board and I believe it's sarcastic code for "done deal, not really done".

Latest rumor to keep our eyes on is that apparently, according to TuxedoYoda, the ACC may have changed its by-laws. Big 12 tweeters and bloggers are on the hunt for the new by-laws, believing the August 15 deadline to withdraw may have been pushed back.

DarthSwoff may have struck again and hoodwinked poor FSU (at least to hear them tell it).

Cheers,
Neil

RE: The Dude Speaks Again
TuxedoYoda is working under the assumption that the ACC changed its bylaws when they voted in Pitt and Syracuse. Except that Pitt and Syracuse aren't members just yet and won't be for a while, so why would they need to update the bylaws? Even so, what motivation does the ACC have in changing the withdrawal date?

I read that blog by the Yoda guy. He is strongly insinuating that because the ACC hasn't published new bylaws that they have a reason to keep it secret. He is also trying to imply that 8/15 is no longer the date. All he really knows is what the bylaws were (which are for sale so he's violating copyright by publishing them verbatim) and that they might have changed with the addition of Syracuse and Pitt.

What is known is that the old bylaws required a forfeiture of 75% of the conference distributions. Another thing nobody is talking about is that it also required the school leaving to assume a portion of the liabilities. I haven't looked to see if the ACC has liabilities or not. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to have a corporate office mortgage though.

It is known that the ACC voted to up the penalty for leaving. It wouldn't surprise me if a longer term of notice was part of it.

When the conference is taking a full farking share of the TV money, their office mortgage better be paid off.

The conference uses a lot of that to pay for travel to ACC championships for all participating teams. Not many other conferences do that.

Because the Big 12 couldn't talk directly with disgruntled ACC schools (for fear of being sued) so they used AD Oliver Luck as a go-between for months. 03-wink

That Tuesday at 4pm is an inside joke among the WVU people. Everything happens Tuesdays at 4 pm.

He claims to have connections with FSU and Clemson people in addition to WVU people. He doesn't claim to have any connections with the Big 12 eight, so anything he says about what OU or Texas is thinking has to be taken with a grain of salt.
