What UCF Athletics is missing right now
1. Energy
2. Innovation
3. Excitement

Right now, it seems like the only programs that have any sort of energy in the staffs and players is baseball, both soccer teams, and women's track. The lack of charisma, passion, and energy at the head of the football program is dragging down player performance and fan interest especially. The sanctions seemed to have really killed basketball excitement (hopefully its only temporary for a year). Even the marching band seems lackadaisical and stagnant. We need a breath of fresh air in some of these sports. Young, hungry, and innovative coaches are what this program needs right now. Once the energy level is raised and some of our coaches become more innovative in their respective sports (including the band directors), then UCF students, alumni, and fans will be buzzing and excited to see UCF play. Right now, all us fans can do is be supportive of our student-athletes, even if you can't stand the direction of the program.

Gol creates apathy. What's exciting about our offense or his record? Losing games is bad, but giving games away is worse.

I agree. Not only is this a football issue though, but just an Athletics issue as an entity as well. No one cares about UCF sports except for the diehards, and this needs to change. We need buzz and excitement, and right now, only the sports stated above have created that over the past year.

I know this sounds like a line, but the thing that UCF is missing right now is the money to send GOL packing. Nothing more, nothing less.

No.
President Hitt and the big money boosters like O'Leary. That's why he is still there.

We need to get the media to care about us. We need to stop being a "Oh by the way" and start being a leading story. When local news gushes about the Gators or the 'Noles for 10 and 20 minutes at a time, and the Knights get 30 seconds...that has an effect on people. And GOL hasn't exactly been the most media friendly coach ever, from what I've heard.

I remember reading that 60% of UCF alumni still live in Orange County. An additional 10-15% live in Seminole. I don't remember how many more live on the Space Coast or other nearby counties, but even based on those numbers, that means nearly 75% of all UCF alumni, EVER, live within 1-2 hours of campus. Something's wrong.

Maybe Hitt, but the so called big money boosters, you will have to prove that to me. Losing to Mizzou at home after GOL's shi**y record against the big boys does not bore that out.

Iliana's said it numerous times. A large percentage of the boosters like O'Leary and credit him with CUSA championships and the OCS. I'm just hoping that the mediocrity of this year will sway some of them, but I know it's unlikely.

If that is the case, they will kill UCF football. Going to the BE, the competition will make UCF become a below par football team. I can't believe they are that short-sighted. Unless they really are not UCF fans. What a shame that would be.

There is nothing that can be "proven" as I don't think there are any printed statements out there saying "We Believe in O'Leary!" from the big money guys.

I can just tell you that I'm not talking about boosters who pay $1000 per year so they can sit on the 30 yard line at football games. I'm talking about the ones who have given hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars so they can have their names on the buildings. The kind of boosters who UCF turns to to help pay entry/exit fees or to lend a corporate jet. The type of boosters who front the money to buyout coaches and bankroll new ones. Those boosters have not lost confidence in O'Leary. It is those types of boosters (and yes, we have few), along with Hitt, who will decide when O'Leary goes if he chooses not to willingly retire before his contract is up after the 2015 football season.

If the big money guys decided O'Leary needed to go, there would not be much issue coming up with $3 million for the buyout after this year. Unless O'Leary chooses to go willingly, or Hitt decides he needs to go, or the big money guys decide he needs to go, George O'Leary will be UCF's coach for 3 years after this one.
