Yeah, except the Jets got stomped by the Steelers after that...

How many of us had a LOSS to Holy Cross factored into these predictions?

If you haven't already, now is a good time to reset any expectations this year.

Hell, even I thought we'd be 2-1 at this point.

RE: '12-'13 Preseason Basketball Predictions
Might be a long season, but we should improve as the year develops.

I really like Palmore and Bacote as frosh.

I like what Painter brings in the paint, and lament what ODU returning frontcourt players do not.

Our offensive sets do not seem to fit our personnel. We are now a guard-oriented team, and more flow and less structure may be a better strategy.

I was duped by solid preseason performances that we might be better at this point in the season. This weekend showed how far we have to go to be anywhere near the team ODU fans are used to seeing. However, it is what it is, and I look forward to supporting what I think is a strong freshman class as they develop.....not their fault that the ODU cupboard was more empty than it has been in many years.

Exactly right Smitty. I've been cautioning people not to kill the players. For example, it's not Nick's fault that the cupboard is bare and he is now a go to guy. He was a throw away player and wasn't recruited to be a dominant player for us. Whatever he adds should be considered a plus. He's a complimentary guy, unfortunately the better guys on this team are freshmen.

It's far easier to contribute when you have a Kent Bazemore or Frank Hassell to carry the burden of being the focus of the offense. It's harder when you become that player.

I'd keep playing everyone else but Anton right now and just let them develop.

I'm not killing any of the players. They do not fit Taylor's "system" of play, which is not their fault after watching some practice and the preseason games, it seemed apparent to me that Taylor was adjusting his plans to the talent he has. I was wrong. We might not get 10 wins playing this way with this personnel. I am afraid we are on the brink of UNCW territory unless things change drastically. Next year figures to be much worse. We may be fighting Rice for the cellar of CUSA.

When I'm wrong I like to step up and admit it. So with that in mind I would like to revise and extend my remarks. Change "16" to "11" and after "ecstatic." add the words ", as we are a terrible basketball team."

At this point we're so bad that my emotions are out of it and while it sucks for the kids I do hope we finish bad enough for Blaine to be fired. We can do so much better than this.

^ This^

I wasn't sure enough of this team to make a prediction but now I'm glad i didn't because it would have been way off.

I'm at the same point. I've given up the yelling, screaming, and cursing and hoping Taylor will tweak his system. I will be at the UR and VCU games emotionless and quiet and will likely never get out of my chair. If we win, great we won a meaningless game in a meaningless season. If we lose, it is another nail in Blaine's coffin. We are almost better off finishing the season 1-29 than having a semi-turnaround and finishing somewhere around 11-19.

You're right. Kill all prospects of landing any semblance of meaningful recruits by losing all remaining games. Brilliant!

If we can't land meaningful recruits after back to back NCAA tournament appearances, we sure as heck aren't going to land any winning 6-11 games vs winning 1-5 games. Best chance of winning meaningful recruits is with a new coach. Other than Dahi, every decent player Taylor has landed has been sheer luck.
